Archer Q: (in General)

Can an archer consist of only ST, archery and have a bow with high +'s to do decent damage and hit often as well?

Will it matter if i lack dx and compensate it with high +'s?

in other words without dx can i maximize 6+ shots in ranged?

What I'm really trying to get at is...Can an enchanter be a pretty good archer?

Whats the pro's and con's?
Whats your feedback? thx for all who give their opinions :D

Yes, you can do that very thing. If you have a + over 100 you'll get 1 hit in----Unless the enemy minion has DB's which are quite popular among TOA tanks for that very reason.

Also to get a bow to +100 would be very expensive and then your x will be lower so you will do less than optimal damage.

Without dex you will not get 2 hits in each missle round unless your dex is higher than your enemy. Unless your bow is +200 or so. But you can have a low level dex of, lets say 5k, and get 2 shots a round vs other mages/enchanters. Thats the strat I use for my Wall character. Vs high dex tanks, even using a +41 compound, I almost never hit them and if I do, its not for very much.

Just my random musings

"Archery has reduced effect when its level is low relative to ST."

btw how do you maximize archery? was it 1/4 of st? or 1/3?

Archery needs to be 1/4 your strength.

But remember any items that effect your dex either raise or lower your skills including archery. The penalty for having a 2 handed weapon with a shield and bow does NOT apply to lowering your skills.

just to sidetrack for a moment but what is "The penalty for having a 2 handed weapon with a shield" ?

Try reading this.

Xiaz, that doesn't explain any % of penalties...

i think it was 4 times the normal penalty for the shield
