Named item ripoffs (in General)

Is there any way of stopping this rubbish with naming items to be something they are not. Was traded what was reported to be a deluxe buckler of mandos which is what i needed for my character and instead got a named wooden shield, i refuse to rip anyone off like i was so please remove this item from the game Jonathon ( i also believe that the naming of an item should not incorporate the name of any other item in the game except the item that is actually being named) but this is only my opinion.

Next time, make a post in Public Record stating what you are trading and what you expect to get. You would include the fact that the trade includes a name BoM. You then ask Evolution to confirm. When he does you have a deal that admins and the community can examine. Chances are Evolution would say, "No! this isn't a BoM....it is a named wooden shield."

As it stands, I think that was pretty low of you Evolution (assuming you knew it was a wooden shiled and that flipper had no idea). Offer to give him his stuff back for the CML's you got and have him pay transfer fees.

I was going to link you to the Named Items list. But I can't seem to find it, how weird. If it doesn't exist anymore I think this deal was utter rubbish.

Your fault for not asking what the item actually was, flipperkill. That said, I think Evolution could've told you it was a Wooden Shield (If he did/didn't, I don't know).

The fact that people name lower end items as higher end items doesn't bother me. Although, the lack of ways to tell what an item really is certainly does.

Was not told it was a wooden shield . Was expecting a BOM that was named, oh well sent his crap back to him. I may be a CML out of pocket but i still have my integrity. As long as no-one else gets ripped off, which is what it is. Imo what goes around comes around and i have too much savvy to rip someone else off by passing a useless item off as something it is not.

If an item name doesn't appear in this section of the game then it is named.


Also perhaps talk to Evolution about this first to try and get his opinion about the trade before making a general post (which actually is you venting your frustration about a private deal that didn't go as you planned it to be)

But yes in my opinion also, it is low of Evolution to misinform you about the item he sold.

Frankly, that doesn't surprise me at all of Evolution, he tried to do it to me, He said he bought it for 20k.

And before you jump into buying stuff, you should always check out what your buying, just incase this stuff happens.

He ripped me off once, not paying interest for a $2 mil loan he got from me. Admittedly it was only for a day and his sale fell through, but I got no recompense from him, not even the xfer fees :(

Evo, send him his item back. That's not the sort of dealings I'll have reflecting upon Alleviation. flipperkill should've known better since there's not such thing as a "deluxe" buckler of mandos, but you should've known better to tell him. Send it back.

Is there any proof anyway, a conversation or anything, saying that Evo Said or didn't say that it was a SWS?

I gotta say I'd have double checked if somebody had offered me both a ToJ and a BoM in exchange for CML's. Average market price for a ToJ that size is what, 400-500k, and the average price in auctions for a BoM has been about a million. In exchange for an item that goes for about 600k on average? Double check, double check double check....

Yeah, I'd say that's proof, could Flipperkill check his own CM's and confirm this?

This is why Jon made links up on items now to see what the actual item is, but it doesnt help if you dont have it equipped and your just trying to sel it....but still naming a crap item as something else is pretty low...

Wasn't the 'deluxe buckler of mandos' named by Mr Chuckles as the trophy for the Mentor of the Month competition?

I don't know who named it but I got it in a deal. Yes I knew it was named.

I named the Wooden Shield for Mr Chuckles a while back. All I can say about this one, is Evolution told flipperkill that it was a named SWS. What more can he do? The responsibility lies with the buyer. I was taken advantage of early on in the game by a guy that sold me some low level crappy armor for way too much. Live and learn I suppose.

I think its pretty lame how everyone attacks Evo before he even can post something himself.

In Evos defence i rechecked my CMs and yes at one point he did say named sws but i didnt care what the hell it was named. Its like someone saying you want to trade something for my kickass compound named dagger, we all know there is no item called a kickass compound but we all would assume it was one that had been upgraded and would not care what it was called. No, i dont think we'd all assume that in this game. Assuming in this game is dangerous and can cost you in idiot taxes. He clearly told you what he was trading. If you didnt understand, it was your responsibility to ask. Really...you thought youd get a named Mandos for a set of CML?

And Sevare, do you honestly expect to trade CML for a named Small Wooden Shield? Your defense goes both ways ;)

CML for TJK + named SWS seems like a reasonably fair trade.

certainly much more so than CML for TJK + BoM.

Max was the first person to name a SWS that and it was on cb1.

Next time you misinterpret a trade, before you post a slanderous thread, try explaining how you misunderstood the deal and asking politely for a refund/trade-back. I think most players would have willing to do so in this situation.

Note: After this thread, if I were Evo I would do no such thing. Possibly after A VERY thorough apology.

Then let's get mad at Fuh, because he has a tattoo named Solace of Bubo, but when I looked in item meta-stats, there's no such item as a Solace of Bubo! C'mon flipper, did you think Evo sent it to the magical blacksmith which makes things "Deluxe" and changes their base? It's your responsibility to read. This game isn't designed to hold your hand.

Hey, don't you slap me for making the Katana named "A Whip"! That thing was fun, especially on a newbie team where a whip on a character actually made sense!

personally, i would love to have my compound named An Elven Long Bow...its just cool to have those names on and around your character...even if they are not real.

soul, someone already did that. maybe you could trade with them =)
