STR/DEX penalties from armor only effect your base (trained) stats, not those granted by enchantments or tattoos.

Nope, enchantments are only affected by Magic penalties/bonuses.
Dex modifiers affect Dexterity and Skills, Magic modifiers affect DD Spells and Enchantments.

However, there is one situation where your dex, including enchantments and bonuses from TOA, is very decreased.
It is when you use a bow and no melee weapon. You suffer about a 2/3 dex penalty from your entire dex.

but that isnt an enchantment penalty and only applies to DX ranger.
also skills suffer a penalty/bonus the same way your DX does (except for ranged in melee and additional shield penalties)

To all those confused:
I think FS meant: Do str/dex penalties effect str/dex gained from enchantments?
Although he might have meant: Do str/dex penalties effect my enchantment level?
That explains a lot of this thread, it was very confusing.

Very weird I just noticed ranged weapons work in melee to couple of mins ago, it is not just dexterity that gets effected but also strength too...
and you only shoot (range weapon in melee) every alternate rounds.

Basically, archery is "turned off" in melee, so that is why it shoots every other round doing less damage. The dexterity is an added non-bonus.
Why was archery turned off?
Because Sutekh was right. *smile*
