Guess a number, win a prize. (in Contests)

Fantasysage July 31 2005 9:01 PM EDT

Okay, since my number is long you will have one, and only one clue:

The number is encrypted, in an easy way.

M-P-E-N-A-I-U-M-E

The hint to the cypher is:

"air powered"

Thats all you get. The prize will be BOM +10 so have at it!

Grim Reaper July 31 2005 10:07 PM EDT

are we supposed to unscramble the word to get the # or is the # figured out just from each letter?

Ghetto, what makes you think that if another person posted that answer and Sage said he didn't win, what makes you think that you would win?

Grim Reaper August 1 2005 12:36 AM EDT

Fantasysage August 1 2005 12:36 AM EDT

Fantasysage August 1 2005 1:01 AM EDT

Hmm and i needed to be told that twice why?

Keep it up, and you'll be out of the running.

Grim Reaper August 1 2005 1:32 AM EDT

because of this thread I have stumbled onto an interesting anagram site, theres a section with certain headline names and their letters were rearranged into funny results of being true.

And the prize goes to: Oblivious who's name means:
1.Lacking all memory; forgetful.
2.Lacking conscious awareness; unmindful.

2 wrongs don't make a right, Captain.

Grim Reaper August 1 2005 3:20 AM EDT

nope nope nope. And for those of you who are doing the number of the letter in the alphabet crap. STOP JUST STOP ALREADY! Not only is it incorrect, but its rampant posting is a blow to my intellegence, i woulden;t make it THAT easy.

Blow to your intelligence?

Ooooh, get you!
Maybe you should start a thread saying how wonderful in bed you are too?
[/sarcasm]

And I thought games were meant to be fun *sigh*

Fantasysage August 1 2005 11:27 AM EDT

Merchant class, i wasn't Talking to you. And posting the alphabet thing once is fine, you don't know if its right, but if it isn;t there is no need to post it multiple times.

Anyway, rubberduck got it right on his second guess.

First one would have been spot on, but i did the cypher in reverse :)

Heres the explanation:

All of the letters corresponded to the place of a letter in a word. Thats what the clue was for.

Pneumatic was the word, it means powered by air. So simply:

p9 n8 e7 u6 m5 a4 t3 i2 c1

Thats what the numbers went to. This was more of a word puzzle then anything.

So rubberduck, cm me or post here with where you want your bom to go.

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] August 1 2005 11:35 AM EDT

Yay :D Thanks for running the contest. Send to Black Card Situation please.

So how did everyone else arrive at their numbers?

Biscuitback August 1 2005 2:00 PM EDT

prolly mostly the way fantasy said. counting the letter is the alphabet. i knew i was wrong cuz it didn't have anything to do with the clue, but i didn't post it cause it was like the first guess on there and i was all fresh out of ideas.

Grim Reaper August 1 2005 6:43 PM EDT

this contest was rigged, no where do I see a T in
M-P-E-N-A-I-U-M-E

How can you get that word without a T?

QBRanger August 1 2005 6:45 PM EDT

I dont see a 3 in the final answer and the T=3. Its just a space holder for the other letters.

Grim Reaper August 1 2005 6:47 PM EDT

PnEumatic <--- only 1 E and he had given us 2 E's so how could we get a T out of E

Chargerz-Back August 1 2005 7:08 PM EDT

M - P - E - N - A - I - U - M - E
5 - 9 - 7 - 8 - 4 - 2 - 6 - 5 - 7

you were not trying to get the number fior pneumatic. so there wasn't supposed to be a T.

Fantasysage August 1 2005 7:18 PM EDT

Thanks unattainable.

Ya, i woudlent give you the whole word, then you could just google it, too easy. Just because i use a cypher, dosn't mean i have to use all the letters. You have to think outside the box.

Oh and gorilla, i dont appreciate that pm.

Stephen Young August 1 2005 7:26 PM EDT

Good job, rubberduck.

J Carp August 1 2005 7:31 PM EDT

good rubber duck...

i didnt get the darn contest....
