NUB modification (in Changelog)

AdminJonathan September 16 2005 4:11 PM EDT

In a move sure to please nobody for obvious reasons, the NUB has been reduced by about 15% to better account for the inherent ease of climbing the early PR ranks by selecting your opponents wisely.

This was retroactive for active NUB-holders; in other words, given an existing NUB "old_rate" and a duration it has been active "time_used,"

adjusted_rate = old_rate * ~ 0.85
time_left = 120 days - time_used
new_rate = (120 days * adjusted_rate - time_used * old_rate) / time_left

Quark September 16 2005 4:22 PM EDT

On the contrary - I'm pleased!

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] September 16 2005 4:26 PM EDT

Meh.

Now it'll just take 15% as long to pass me. ;)

QBRanger September 16 2005 4:27 PM EDT

Its a great start. I'm quite please this issue is being addressed

Mistress Reyna September 16 2005 4:28 PM EDT

okay now bring back camping!!!
I like this change cause I'll be making money offa it NANA AL no beating me for you now !!! Finaly a game he can't beat me at

Ox [StephenMelinda Gates Fund] September 16 2005 4:54 PM EDT

Came home and found my NUB to no longer be available! Oh well, it was running out the 20th anyway. Good change though.

QBsutekh137 September 16 2005 5:09 PM EDT

GL, you are never satisfied. *smile*

Thanks, Jonathan.

Grim Reaper September 16 2005 6:04 PM EDT

there goes 30% of my NUB gone.

Grim Reaper September 16 2005 6:12 PM EDT

Shoudn't my NUB be 120.7 and not 112?

AdminJonathan September 16 2005 6:19 PM EDT

no.

[T]Vestax September 16 2005 6:32 PM EDT

Your's is lower do to a retroactive fix Tormentor.

I still say length over strength.

Grim Reaper September 16 2005 6:35 PM EDT

retroactive fix?

I just can't see how 142 x .85 comes out to 112.94 something something which is shown in forge.

AdminJonathan September 16 2005 6:42 PM EDT

look, dude

read the second half of the post

if you can't follow the math then accept that I can and quit making yourself look stupid

QBRanger September 16 2005 6:47 PM EDT

Tormentor,

Look at this line:

new_rate = (120 days * adjusted_rate - time_used * old_rate) / time_left

[Tranquility]-USDForger [Azn Forgesmith] September 16 2005 6:58 PM EDT

Your rough estimate ( in case you really need helps in Math, i will simplify for you)

new rate=(102*old_rate) - [(120-time_left) * old_rate] /time_left
=old_rate ( 102 - 120 + time_left) /time_left
=old_rate (time_left -18)/time_left
=old_rate * [1- 18/time_left]

[T]Vestax September 16 2005 7:00 PM EDT

120.7%  = 142% * 0.85
68 days = 120 days - 51 days
104.9% = (120 days * 120.7% - 51 * 142%) / 69 days
As I see it your new NUB is bigger then what the equation says it should be, so I would consider your current rate a gift if anything.

[T]Vestax September 16 2005 7:01 PM EDT

*69 days = 120 days - 51 days

TrueDevil [AAA] September 16 2005 10:34 PM EDT

Now this is great, this month changes have been really great. =)

YNM September 17 2005 1:29 AM EDT

I hate it...i quit... :P

QBOddBird September 17 2005 3:21 AM EDT

This is excellent. You're fantastic, Jon.

This reduces my NUB to 100%, and I'm glad. Finally BA isn't quite so expensive....=) Only a little while longer to plug it before it runs out and the forging cycle begins!

Grim Reaper September 17 2005 5:05 AM EDT

Oh wow oddbird, I didn't notice ba cost dropped till you mentioned it:You may purchase up to 576 BA for $632 apiece. You have $163,622.
Dropped by 80 cb nice :)

sssimmo September 17 2005 5:09 AM EDT

LOL @ YNM

With the BA cost though, it's relative, so what does it matter??

{CB3}-HR22 September 17 2005 4:39 PM EDT

Ya, lol
Your BA price dropped but so did your rewards..

QBOddBird September 17 2005 6:26 PM EDT

still useful if you plan to forge. =) That is, if you plan to forge and spend BA to make the work faster. Simply trying to get as much MPR as I can now before the day my NUB is gone.

AdminShade September 23 2005 4:46 AM EDT

missed this change but I think it will bring better balance for everyone :)
