CB Think Tank (in General)

BrandonLP November 18 2005 3:01 PM EST

When I look at the CB forums, I'm usually not surprised to see two, three, sometimes even upwards of four suggestions on the Recent Threads list. While that's not necessarily a bad thing, I think people start to avoid them after awhile. This leads to some good ideas and ideas that could, with improvement, eventually be good getting passed over.

My proposal is simple: A "Think Tank" comprised of several members of the CB community. The job of the Think Tank would be to take player suggestions and talk about them in a special forum that normal users wouldn't have access to (whether it be here or offsite). The Think Tank would discuss the ideas, improve upon them if need be, and pitch the ideas to Jon in a formal, official manner. This would save Jon the headache of looking through everyone "Suggestion" thread and keeps the flame wars about new ideas down to a minimum.

Thoughts?

I know you mean well, but I can't resist:

FORS #1: Why not make a suggestions forum?
A: Because people are already liberal enough with half-baked ideas without one.

You aren't on the distribution list, Brandon. :)

Quite true, Maelstrom, but this isn't a suggestions forum. It's a way for suggestions to reach the Think Tank, they discuss in a private forum, and either toss the idea or pass it on to Jon.

Over on CB1 Sut or Tz had put together a little strategy mailgroup in which we discussed strat outside the forums, maybe you could do that or maybe Shade would set up a forum on his site? Just a few thoughts. :O)

Reason why there isn't a think tank is because it would include pretty much everybody on the entire community that is forumbound (yes my own invention)

everyone able to post can come up with an idea, great, good or absolutely horrible.

Brandon, it's a good idea, but it simply wouldn't work.

Well, if it's an official one anyway.

If you or anyone else decides to get together a group of people and do an un-official version of this, you could have some success.

There's nothing stop you from doing this as it is, I think it's a good idea to do this, just I highly suggest you take your time when choosing your 'think tank'.

Most of my doubts on this are in anyone's abiliity to get together a group of intelligent people who can actually come to an agreement on anything.

Actually the current system works pretty good. I know Jon looks at all the ideas and reads the forum. So there is no use in splitting up the forums any more so then they already are.

What would be helpful is if people came up with specific ideas to go along with their general far reaching ideas.
