New supporter item: Trollskin Armor (in Changelog)

Trollskin Armor is back!
The only similarity with the old TSA is the base of 22. And they both give (different) ST bonuses. (Yes, forging times are different too.)
Here's how the TSA supporter item works:
1% bonus to ST AND 1% resistance to DD for each point of enchantment.
BUT the DD resistance has a half-life of one round of combat. E.g., if you have a TSA +32, you will resist 32% of DD the first round, 16% the 2nd round, and so forth. The ST bonus does not decay like this!
(The DD resistance is applied right after MGS resistance, if any, is applied.)
As usual, existing Supporters may acquire a TSA for a reduced price of $6 paypal'd to jonathan@carnageblender.com.

resistance to Decay is also implemented? Or does Decay still work with full force against it?
Brilliant! ;)
MgS + TSA, far better FB reducer than a TBF though, even if the TSA doesn't last you till melee.
Gonna have to get me one of these come payday, I really like the idea of a MgS + TSA tank.
:D

could we get more info...
is it forgable?
weight of pr.
does the resistance add up with mgs?

If you would read Jon's first post, and only post, you would get answers to 2 of your questions. If you would look in the items overview you would get the answer to your third. But since your having problems reading the PR is .4.

scratch the forging ?

November 26 2005 8:35 PM EST
Yes it is forgeable: hence the (Yes, forging times are different too.)
PR weight = 0.4, as you can see in Item overview.
Resistance to DD is applied AFTER MgS resistance so thus doesn't add up with it.
all info you could have found yourself IF you'd take the time for it...

Mages are still overpowered ;-)
Made the wiki entry. Someone please check(and complete/correct if necessary) that.

According to the wiki it does not give penalty to skill.

Does it null spells if worn on a mage?

Quick question about the "half-life" for anyone that has one. MM attacks don't start until the second round, will the TSA, using Jon's +32 example, block 32% of MM because it will be the first instance of DD it encounters, or will it block 16% of it because it will be the second round?

Beautiful. I can't wait to get one of these and test it out in action.

Ah, I missed the trollskin when it went. Now if we could just have the SoD back too..... ;)

Seems to me that the forge times someone put into the wiki are incorrect - anyone else try forging them?
That is the old forge formula for TSA and Jon already stated that the new TSA has different forge times so the only way to find it would be to experiment or wait and see if Jon gives any hints.

Why would someone add in a formula that is known to be incorrect? It's just making people waste their BA.

Maybe it was a conspiracy to make people waste BA.
I missed the TSA, a lot.
Nice.
You could've given it the added bonus of giving +10 to UC so I could get rid of my GI and use the TSA, but noooo the one cool item introduced to CB this month is something poor old Chuckles can't use *walks off muttering to himself*
I like the change though :)
Always good to see more CB1 things popping up on CB2.
And the DD reduction is a neat idea.
Very well done :)

We had the TSA before, granted BL and ST.
Johnny, if you ever mention the SoD again I swear I'll fly over there and make you drink yourself to death with coors light.
Coors! O_O Don't do it Jonhhy!!
As for the DD decay, I assume it depends on when the fight starts. If both teams (tank with no ranger versus CoC mage for example) start round 1 in melee, I assume the decay would start from there (and not the three rnaged rounds that were never fought.)

You know, the TSA is obviously a boost to non-ToA tanks (since ToA tanks can't use armour), and thus it is indirectly a boost to ToE-mages! Well, at least a boost to Tank-Mage-ToE teams, which is exactly my preferred strategy :)

Is there a way to get TSA if you are already a supporter? I JUST JUST became a supporter and got the ToE but now I want TSA too... :)

I'm going to ask this question again because:
A) This thread is getting off topic
B) No one has answered it! :O)
Quick question about the "half-life" for anyone that has one. MM attacks don't start until the second round, will the TSA, using Jon's +32 example, block 32% of MM because it will be the first instance of DD it encounters, or will it block 16% of it because it will be the second round?
Tez! 5 posts up... :(
"As for the DD decay, I assume it depends on when the fight starts. If both teams (tank with no ranger versus CoC mage for example) start round 1 in melee, I assume the decay would start from there (and not the three rnaged rounds that were never fought.)"
But I hope someone with one could test this! ;)
I assume it is rounds or Jon would have specified.
I guess this means you are better off against those annoying FB's but CoC will still do decent damage since they still have to wait for the entire 3 ranged rounds to pass before they fight.
Get a decent ranged weapon with seekers to take out anything other than FB using a strat with this ;)

All COC mages need to do is get an enchanter to equip a sling with pebbles. Since they fire each missile round the above points of rounds is moot.

Does this item have a negative penalty to skills & dex? I see a slight drop in BL and dex values for my +28.

D'oh!
I don't know if you have to test this... (unless you want positive proof)
Consider the following logic..
For, Say, MM which has only 2 rounds of ranged, the damage reduction does not Start on the first round that the spell is used. It starts from the first possible round that Anything Could be used. Otherwise the MM would be penalized as if it was the first round that a spell was used.
Since MM is penalized as the second round spells are, the TSA should decay the resistance as if the rounds that could happen, did in fact happen.
Now, unless someone gets a TSA to +100, and fights a single CoC/Decay mage, you won't have any positive proof.
But i would tend to assume the worst case senario. That the TSA starts to decay from the earliest possible round that could occur, whether said round occurs or not.

Well I will say this.
If you do not have a bow equipped and fight a COC mage, the program uses the actual battles fought in showing the battle length. Therefore the 3 potential missile rounds are not included in the fight length.
Therefore I suspect, but cannot prove, the MR of the TSA begins in the first actual round of combat.
Of course, COC mages can do things to make combat start in the first missile round, but thats another story.
