Another Cooldown Horror Story. (in General)

QBRanger December 6 2005 8:07 PM EST

I was blacksmithing my MH, adding 14 points to the +. When it came back I unequipped it to see if it raised my PR or if was I under the weapon allowance. Less then 20 seconds later I tried to reequip it.

Lo and behold, when I tried to reequip it, cooldown occurred. So for 8 hours I cannot equip it on the minion I want.

Am I overreacting? Or is this what the cooldown period was designed for?

I gotta agree with you ranger .. you are going to be without your main weapon for 6 hours ... Im glad im not in your shoes .. I'm going to be pumping mine eventually and I sure dont want this to happen to me...

QBRanger December 6 2005 8:11 PM EST

I wish 6 hours, its like 8 hours.

WeaponX December 6 2005 8:12 PM EST

this thing does more harm than good... i say remove it

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] December 6 2005 8:18 PM EST

Wasn't it to orignally stop PR expliotation? Can that still happen with the NW-PR link? Do we really need this?

Hyrule Castle [Defy] December 6 2005 9:23 PM EST

so ranger, your saying your without a weapon for the next 8 hours???.... QUICK EVERYONE ATTACK!!! ....lol JK :D, but seriously, that must suck, i have a mage... so he doesnt really have a weapon... just a tat

DAWG December 6 2005 9:23 PM EST

Yes the cool down will mess you up if you try to rent something after it has expired...

I had something rented and it returned to rentals... well I needed it back and I rented it again but couldn't put it on for another 8 hours so i ended up having to rent 2 other objects to make up for the time period...

and the same thing that happened to ranger happened to me with my MH... I put it in for the black smith and then when it came back I wanted to see how much it added to my pr and when I unequipped it for about 10 seconds and went to put it back on it wouldn't let me...

very inconvenient

Sounds like a code cleanup is all that's required. Reset the timer for when it returns from the BS so an unequip starts the timer. And I'd like to allow inter-minion swaps without penalty for any item since it doesn't change PR.

And I'd like to allow inter-minion swaps without penalty for any item since it doesn't change PR.

i thought this already was enabled?

Quark December 7 2005 9:50 AM EST

Yesterday I moved my RoE from the E to the T, then back to the E, all without unequipping. I couldn't move it back to the T again due to the cooldown period.

AdminShade December 7 2005 10:58 AM EST

Hmmm, another part of the bug, because if i recall correctly, jonathan made it so that inter character jumping of those items was possible...?

Quark December 7 2005 11:00 AM EST

It might be specific to tattoos since they force unequip other items.

AdminShade December 7 2005 11:03 AM EST

Which makes no sense because if you switch around the cloak and body armor along with it, it should work normally...

Quark December 7 2005 11:31 AM EST

Something else funny is going on. I just unequipped & re-equipped armor on my wall & enchanter (about a 2 minute delay in the middle), and it came back with a 6:55 waiting period left - based on the an earlier time I unequipped today. I was dropping these items off while fighting to see if I could notice any reward increases due to lower PR, but each time I was within the 8 hour window.

Are the constraints tightening? Is it now based on the first time you unequip?

Quark December 7 2005 12:17 PM EST

And that message I got for my MCM now changed to 7:10 left - the timer reset based on that last uneqip. But I couldn't re-equip then because of the 6:55 expiry window from my first unequip.

Something a bit buggy going on here.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 7 2005 4:39 PM EST

Why the hell hasn't this been turned back off?
it was only off FOREVER...therefor having no effect proving it's both useless and annoying...WHY WHY WHY?

Quark December 7 2005 5:16 PM EST

No effect is not the same as useless. It serves a good purpose in making people think about their PR from gear, and not just change to suit fighting / defense. It's just a bit buggy - it wasn't debugged at first implementation since it wasn't on.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 7 2005 5:40 PM EST

fine then unnecessary...if we didn't notice it wasn't on, how much do we really need it.

Adrian Exodus December 16 2005 5:01 AM EST

I might of just found a bug? or oddity

so as best as I can recall with what happened with my arrows:
I fought then re-equipped everything just fine, and while taking a nap the bow returned to rentals I got back equipped a spare bow and read the forums a bit

then I un-equipped the arrows to fight and after fighting and less then 5 minutes later i tried to re-equip them and got the cooldown saying i had to wait 4:30 hours which would put the starting of the time some time when i was on before the nap.

so in theory? I equipped got the cooldown timer while equipped because the bow returned to rentals? and then un-equipped re-equip to find a timer all ready 3~ hours counted down?

AdminShade December 16 2005 5:07 AM EST

Why not just merge the arrows with a small other stack to by pass it then?

Adrian Exodus December 16 2005 5:17 AM EST

nah, they're not that important to my strat just more of the idea of a coc archer, so i just put them on the other minion for 8 hours or what ever.

but i felt i should report this oddity incase it needs looking into or something.
