Has the dex / PTH combinations changed? (in General)

Quark January 4 2006 3:50 PM EST

Not that I'm complaining, but I can beat Brock Sampson, hitting Brock in virtually every round of the 12-15 melee rounds. And Brock's net dex is 815k while mine is less than 500k. My VB has a PTH of 51, so it should net out 1% chance of second hits.

Just curious.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 4 2006 3:51 PM EST

I don't think it's ever worked correctly, but that's just me

Quark January 4 2006 3:52 PM EST

And Brock is not UC anymore, so we're both BL tanks using melee weapons.

Quark January 4 2006 3:52 PM EST

I used to get mopped up by Brock, unable to land more than 1 hit for 12 rounds. Brock's and my dex have risen since then, but the gap is now larger.

Quark January 4 2006 3:54 PM EST

Last point - when I challenge targets above & below Brock on the dex list, I miss most of the time, as expected.

QBRanger January 4 2006 4:03 PM EST

'G'

Your using an assassins xbow so your draining Brocks dex with each hit. Who knows how low his dex gets to by the time you enter melee.

What is the x and + of your assassin's xbow?

Quark January 4 2006 5:28 PM EST

My axbow is [4x40] (+61) - exactly the same as when I was losing to Brock (at the time I recall Brock's dex at 600k vs. mine at 300k or so). In battles a month ago I would be lucky to land 1 of 2 axbow hits, and there's now way I drain that much in the 2 hits I always land now.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 4 2006 5:32 PM EST

his switch from UC has to be the culprit, you are also using a one handed weapon vrs, his now two handed one...

Relic January 4 2006 5:33 PM EST

You are draining about 89K DX per hit in ranged with your axbow. I removed my DB's, you hit me once in ranged with your axbow and you dropped my DX by a little over 89K with just one hit.

Quark January 4 2006 5:34 PM EST

That can't be enough, though. When I fight other high dex chars (ToA or not) that sport Morg's or Bone's, the results are very different - I can't touch them. I was wondering if the Gi has a negative penalty if UC is not trained, but other than that I can't figure it out.

Relic January 4 2006 5:36 PM EST

Does he still have the same DB's? Also, are your DB's the same as well?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 4 2006 5:36 PM EST

he isn't wearing dbs

YOU January 4 2006 5:39 PM EST

Remember UC gives extra bonus to Evasion as well.

Synco January 4 2006 5:40 PM EST

I was wondering how you were able to hit me as well. The DX gap is much bigger now, but I've lost my evasion bonus. I was getting quite a bit of evasion from UC and my Gi.

Synco January 4 2006 5:44 PM EST

And after your Axbow drains me, my DX is 623,444. Sucks though, I thought with my big DX, I'd rarely get hit. I thought wrong. I'll be beating you again after I get some DBs. =P

Quark January 4 2006 5:44 PM EST

My DB's are +52's, but the best they'll do is neutralize the Bone's PTH. I should still get smacked down on a pure dex basis. And if the UC does grant evasion, Brock should be even harder to hit as it will increase the dex imbalance.

Quark January 4 2006 5:45 PM EST

If I try to hit any other tank above 600k or so dex, my axbow misses and so do most of my melee hits

AdminShade January 4 2006 5:49 PM EST

I can hit both your characters since a while, must be because of my +51 (in effect) morgul hammer and the high DX.

Quark January 4 2006 5:52 PM EST

Shade - you also benefit from the ToA PTH, but the dex gap isn't big, so I can still hit you. But not as often as I hit Brock, and Brock's dex is higher.

Synco January 4 2006 6:00 PM EST

Pixie Stick [92x65] (+48)
An Enforcer's Crossbow [4x30] (+30)
are the stats of my weapons.

Man, I really need DBs on Brock. The 200k DX gain on Brock definitely wasn't worth the loss of evasion. I seem to be getting hit even more now. Bart and I always stalemated; he could never hit me, and I'd never inflict enough damage to kill him. Now he hits me almost every round, even though I have double his DX.

Yeah, sucks for me.

Quark January 4 2006 6:07 PM EST

I still think there's a bug in this somewhere, since I can't beat someone like Stalker - a BL ToE tank with no ToA benefits - on dex alone. That's a 650k dex vs. Brock's 800k+

AdminShade January 4 2006 6:12 PM EST

G: stalker has An Assassin's Crossbow [4x44] (+70)

which probably makes your DX drop as if it were pouring...

Synco January 4 2006 6:13 PM EST

Vay drains a load of my DX with his Axbow. By the time ranged is over, we have around the same DX. I usually miss him in melee because of his DBs.

AdminShade January 4 2006 6:16 PM EST

my normal DX: 490,408/200,000

after fighting "Stalker": DX: 305,429

which is ~190k drop in 2 hits, which is about 100k per hit say.

so if he hits you 2 times, your 800k DX will become 600k also, making him have a higher DX than you.

Synco January 4 2006 6:20 PM EST

Yep, 523,277 DX after ranged is done.

Synco January 4 2006 6:21 PM EST

Oh, and he got double hits in the second round.

[T]Vestax January 4 2006 6:35 PM EST

Pure DX is incapable of allowing oneself to be untouchable. Investing purely in DB's is also not as good. DB's could eventually stop all damage, but that takes a lot of money. As a tank you'll get DX anyhow so you can hit things, but mages run into the second problem all the time. It's a combination of DX and DBs that makes for efficient evasion.

Speaking of Evasion, maybe you should invest in that instead Leon. It has now been made into that perfect combination of subtracted pth and DX while defending. I would also like to mention that your Elven gear would come in handy in that case as well.
