What's going on here? (in Public Record)

Elf X.7plus35k January 16 2006 8:33 PM EST

I'm sure I'm not the only one that has noticed but within the last week Ranger made a non-PG comment, and was not fined or punished in any way. At this time I'd like to inquire as to why this was and although I don't know the reason for this, it appears the admins looked unfairly upon Ranger. I also noticed that the post made was edited but not in the normal way by saying who edited it. To me this looks REAL suspicious and puts a shadow on the integrity of the community, I for one would really apperciate an explanation.

I'm not trying to make Ranger look bad here, it just so happens he's the one that was over looked.

Maelstrom January 16 2006 8:49 PM EST

What non-PG comment was that? Did you point it out to an admin? Although it may not seem like it, the admins are human, and they can miss things. I highly doubt it was some sort of special treatment.

QBRanger January 16 2006 8:51 PM EST

The comment I made was approved well in the past. In the beginning of cb2. If you check, I forget the thread, the same issue you have with it was brought up. While it was "on the fence", it was not felt to be un-PG by the admins.

Why it was edited? I do not know.

There is no "shadow on the integrity of the community".

That is the thread when my word usage was approved.

If you have other problems, perhaps a CM to an admin instead of calling someone out in the forums might be a better way to approach things.

Maelstrom January 16 2006 8:55 PM EST

Oh, missed the part where you said it was edited. Sometimes when something is "on the fence", admins will edit it without fining, just to avoid complaints by overly sensitive players.

Elf X.7plus35k January 16 2006 8:55 PM EST

I understand - if it was approved, then you can say it. However, I thought such a comment was nonPG, which was why I asked. That leaves the question....if it isn't nonPG, why edit it out, and why remain anonymous? That's the reason it looks suspicious. It seems like they just let it slide, and nothing against you, but shouldn't everyone be treated fairly?

Lumpy Koala January 16 2006 8:57 PM EST

so what sort of non-PG statement? Did he intimidated you? Did he suggest that you are a bodily organ instead of a human? Did he make anyone unpleasant??

Elf X.7plus35k January 16 2006 8:58 PM EST

Thanks Maelstrom, that's what I wondered. And Ranger, I went to an admin but didn't really receive much of a response, so I figured I'd post here where I knew I'd get one. Again, thanks Maelstrom!

QBRanger January 16 2006 8:58 PM EST

The person who removed that statement told me the reason was just as Mael stated.

maulaxe January 17 2006 12:25 AM EST

fun to re-read the thread and realize that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Special J January 17 2006 12:30 AM EST

no idea who changed it, but it wasn't me ;)

ELF, this type of conversation is better suited as a CM sent to GB or bartjan, not a public discussion.

bartjan January 17 2006 12:48 AM EST

There's a huge difference when that word is used as a noun or as a verb... but I guess grammar is lost on many of you.

FYI: i removed the unpg word and didn't find it necessary to fine Ranger.

End of discussion afaic
