Item Naming: Time left problem. (in General)

AdminG Beee January 24 2006 4:59 PM EST

I have an item for sale in this auction and I've been asked how long the naming has left. It's a good question because it's not listed on the auction page or via my Manage Characters link.

How long is left on the naming and what am I missing?

My guess, and it's just that.

Since your tattoo likely has days left instead of Months/days on the naming, there is a bug in the program that displays the time left on the naming.

Jon likely will need to address this.

I also thought it could be something like that, but item naming started March 2, 2005. So it at least has a good month left.

QBRanger January 24 2006 5:26 PM EST

Yes, but when it is under 2 months, it displays the days instead of months/days.

IE:
Steeds of the Apocalypse lvl 1,649,000 (Tattoo of Augmentation) 37 days

Nope, there's no expiration on that item at all. I'm not sure how that could have happened.

I set the expiration to one year from now.

BootyGod January 24 2006 6:05 PM EST

wow that was generous.... sry just a passing statement... wish it could have been me lol

Maelstrom January 24 2006 6:07 PM EST

If I'm not mistaken, the money from that auction will go straight to Central Bank, so it's not really an issue of generosity...

sssimmo January 24 2006 6:09 PM EST

Good spot if your right Mael.

AdminG Beee January 24 2006 6:17 PM EST

Yeah it's a reclaimed item and the cash will go to my admin char and end up either at Central Bank or as a giveaway in a contest.

Thanks for sorting it Jon.

AdminShade January 24 2006 6:26 PM EST

Maelstrom: but the item now still has 1 year of naming left, for the lucky winner ;)

Shade:
But that will increase the bids on it as well...

BootyGod January 25 2006 6:11 PM EST

whats with u people and always finding a negative to it? it was generosity plain and simple. Arg you people are obscenely jaded.... can no good deed go by without someone sticking it full of needles?

Maelstrom January 25 2006 7:18 PM EST

I didn't mean to say that it wasn't generous, I meant that G Beee himself wasn't going to make any additional money from it, since the money wouldn't have been his.

Yes, the person who ends up (or has ended up?) winning the auction will get a newly named item to use, which would be really nice. But again, Jon didn't do it to be nice, but to fix a bug. He didn't know how long the item had been named, so he gave it the benefit of the doubt.

(I seem to remember that being one of the very first items to be named, so maybe the expiration times weren't working back then? Anyone else notice any such problems?)
