Protection Question (in General)

{cb2}KingOfKingS March 2 2006 11:04 PM EST

Just wondering if you attacked with a DD spell and a GA or AMF reflects back some dmg can that damage be reduced by your protection spell?

Flamey March 2 2006 11:10 PM EST

well i know that protection works after all the enchantments so if you had 100 AC and had a protection of 10, if you successfully cast it, you have 110 AC.

and i dont know about DD spells and AC.

also this should be put in general, all things relating to the game except for multi/bans should be posted in general.

Moved from off-topic to general. Seeing as it is CB related and all.

And the answer to the question is yes and no. GA reflected, AMF is not.

i think that was not what he was asking vestax.

he means if the retaliation of those two spells get reduced by the AC protection grants.

i dont know that answer

Flamey, Protection doesn't grant AC. From what we can tell, it has more in common with Endurance.

AMF is only reduced by Endurance.. so no, protection will not reduce the damage taken there.

GA is relative to the damage dealt.. so yes, protection will reduce the damage reflected back.

GA reflects back the type of damage you do in the first place. So if you deal direct damage (DD) then DD comes back at you. That means you can reduce the GA with protection, endurance, the enchanted AC on your armor, and with a MgS. AMF is an exception and won't help you against GA damage. The training page also sites that regular AC, not just enchanted AC, will help reduce GA damage.

As for AMF damage, there is only one thing that reduces it in the entire game, and that's endurance. Endurance only comes from a ToE. Your only other protection is to have your DD be much larger then the AMF.

So, in conclusion, the answer to the question is yes and no. GA reflected, AMF is not.

Note: Protection doesn't provide "AC" anymore. That was in CB1. Now it provides it's own brand of damage reduction.

i always though protection granted AC.

so what exactly does protection do?

And his chart

Flamey March 3 2006 12:49 AM EST

after reading that i just want to verify it.

what level protection is that is the percentage reduced, i have effect of 6 so 6% reduction.

also noticed that, that may not be true.

someone please verify that, or just tell me straight out.

Thanks everyone.

It is not true, (6) protection isn't 6% damage reduction.

Will go test things this weekend (have lots of things to test but Protection seems to be a priority)
