How can you make people find your website? (in Off-topic)

As in the subject line, how can you make people find it?
What are some typical, easy and/or effective ways?

You could try to manually add your website to search engine databases (such as Google's). There are also a few automated scripts to do that automatically, they're easy enough to find and implement.

What kind of website are you promoting, anyway?

CB stuff, or at least I'd like to know some ways for it to get visited a bit more :)

Well I guess CB stuff does have a limited audience, that is, mainly CB players would be visiting it.

One way is if you're a regular on other online forums/games, add the URL to your signature or profile. Possibly even onto the end of your emails :)

some simple rules:
(I assume you can read german a little because you are from netherland)

- use the <title> tag for each single site/frame to describe it's real content shortly
- use keywords
- validate your html
- add your url to some search engines, e.g. google
- use some free webmaster online tools

Oh, and don't forget to add a banner like this one to your site ;-)

I have nothing planned next weekend, I'll just go there and keep refreshing... :-P

Indeed I know some German, and tried to validate all my webpages.

Should be working a bit more with those <title> tags and with keywords just like CB does.
