Naming problem again...... (in Public Record)
An Elven Long Bow [5x30] (+8) for sale by Synchronicity

chappy won the auction for 225k, but i guess since he only paid 225k for it at NW of 500k, he didn't get ripped off too badly.
But can Jon please do something about naming items like this? Can an admin please change the name of this now, like they did to the "BTh"/Kat? And i wonder if it really was Synch that named it to this...
well i saw that Synch won another auction with this compound bow from Apoc
and the "ELB" auction didnt say it was a compound bow that was named like this ELB does....

i was looking at that, funny that a compound bow is classified as a ELB when its just named, i was looking through past auctions for ELB and saw some with a Base of 5.
it should at least be counted as a compound bow
OMG< and now i just noticed, that ELB is named ELB, TWO NAMED ITEMS WITH THE SAME NAME? i thought you couldnt do that either?

yea, shouldn't be like usernames, you can't use it, its been taken?
although there probably can't be any real harm can there?
yes there can be a problem with it, just like there was with the named katana "A Blade of Thuringwethil", which was put in auctions to rip people off. Which succeeded a couple of times if I'm not mistaken.

im thinking that, that was their fault for looking close enough, all they had to do was look at the base damage, BoTH has 73 and a Katana has 74, and it also states wiki : katana or whatever it is supposed to be.
not back then when the katana was being sold, i dont think wiki was here back then. Even so, it shouldnt be done period...lol
It's been brought to my attention that Bast changed the name of the Katana with her own money after the BTh/Kat's name expired.

I think Jon will never ban people from doing what your asking. That is from naming items with a current items name in order to try to pull a fast one.
It would require some programming and is likely not a benefit/time cost plus for him. He would have to add special code to the game to exempt the current list of over 100 items. True, he could only use the 20 or so that are rares, but even that most likely requires a bit of effort
Too much time for an event that infrequently pops up and for when it does the community polices the event. Which I strongly believe that posts like your initial one does.

i do not think that he was implying to ban the people who have done that. that of course would be stupid, all he was trying to say is that, just exclude actual item names in the item namings.
yes, thats what i meant, but i also think thats what Ranger meant by it as well, lol.

Yes, I referring to the first question smallpau proposed:
"But can Jon please do something about naming items like this?"
I addressed/'referred to' the second in a private CM to him.

Just look very carefully when thinking you have a cheap deal ;)
also ask yourself what are they gaining from this deal
two different items can be named the same thing, in this case at least from what was posted, I'd say that an ELB named Elven Long Bow, and a Compound with the name name were both sold...and a named Compound with some NW....meh it's worth half NW...maybe

2 items can't have the same unique name:
you'd have An Elven Long Bow, an Elven Long Bow, an elven long bow, and some more possibilities (caps are considered to be different letters)
but you CAN name any item after another item's generic name:
An Elven Long Bow (being a compound bow)
both of those items i listed above both have the original "An Elven Long Bow", just like the originals.
