Hacker's Diet challenge - June 2006 (in Off-topic)

Trying to lose weight? Starting an exercise plan? Quitting smoking?

Welcome to the June Hacker's Diet Challenge ! Everyone welcome to join.  You can join at any time.

This thread helps keep each of us "on the wagon" while we work towards better health. Many of us find it so easy to skip days or give up when we're by ourselves.  This thread gives a larger support structure (or maybe just a feeling of guilt... I don't know) by making our effort semi-public.

Joining is easy.  All you need to do is make a commitment to post daily for 30 days.  Post what you need to in order to prove to yourself that you've met your commitment for the day (many of us post our weight and what sort of exercise we've done).  However, please keep in mind that this thread is just a record for staying honest.  If you want to track a lot of detail you should use a private logbook. If you don't exercise then just post that you followed your diet for the day (including what level you are in your program if appropriate) and your weight if you want.

You are not obligated to post your weight if you feel uncomfortable doing so.

The important thing here is making a commitment and following through (posting to verify that you're keeping up).  This is not a contest and negative comments about any participants or comparisons of participant progress are strictly not allowed. (This includes "backhanded compliments" and weight jokes). This is an effort to positively reinforce some good habits. (Words of encouragement are always welcome though, of course.)

Please don't post about how you'd like to join us.  Just join us. We care about the doing, not the talking. :-) And we're very glad to welcome you to the group!

Since you only compare your progress to yourself, you can join anytime and at any level.  I hope you'll jump on board with us!

(Get a free copy of John Walker's eBook "The Hacker's Diet" here. It includes Excel-based tracking/graphing tools).
This thread continues from the May one

weight 202
rung 19

So my weight's nearby back to where I started in Dec. :-(
Although I didn't intend to lose weight, the fact that I did really felt good and now I'm a little unhappy. On the plus side, now I'm exercising at rung 19 which is way ahead of my goal. I feel good enough to start doing rung 20 now. W00t! Now I wonder how high I can go...

I have to admit. Just having a goal and keeping track of my progress made it way (way!) easier to stick with it. happy happy!

But your ratio between fat and muscle is improved, even if your weight has increased.

There are some here who are nearly all lard.

I haven't really lost any real weight either, some 3 kilos, but i did gain quite some leg muscles and that is a good thing.

you just keep up the good work Sukotto :)

Well I'm not measuring my fat ratio so I don't know. My legs are a little bigger -- especially my calves which means my socks won't stay up anymore -- but I kind of doubt that I've gained 10 lb of muscle.

*shrug* oh well. Once I get to a rung were I want to stay maybe I'll start losing weight seriously.

Weight: 65 kilo (wow)

I have 1 last week left to complete my internship, and it will be tough now.

But in the 5 months I have lost 6 kilos of whatever it was, and gained some leg muscles instead.

Not sure if I will continue cycling in my holidays but I'll see about that later. :)
