My neighbor just told me that there is an opening in the web design department of her insurance company. She told me that they have interviewed about 4 people and not one of them knew what the heck they were doing. As part of the interview you must create a basic web template on a sheet of paper in 30 mins. Is CSS that hard to learn if you know some basics in HTML?

After hire they provide CSS training as well.

i took a basic web design class from CISCO systems and CSS was one of the main topics. To be honest it's really not that hard if you have taken anytime to learn it. Plus firefox has alot of extensions for editing CSS.

do you think someone that learns fast can learn to create a basic web template in a week?

Easily, a basic one barely took me a few days to learn. But it depends on how good you are at it and where your learning it from.

I have done a HTML 4.01 course from school, took me exactly 2 days to build up cbstuff.nl the way it is now... :)
