New supporter item; armor changes (in Changelog)

AdminJonathan June 24 2006 11:55 PM EDT

The new supporter item is the Amulet of Invisibility. Details on the supportership page.

Amulets are a new type or "armor." Two other types of amulets will spawn; Might and AC. They do more or less what you'd expect. I'll be putting some in auctions soon.

Finally, CoI, CH, and AG have been changed so that their upgrades do not affect AC, similar to DB and MgS already.

Flamey June 25 2006 12:00 AM EDT

Woooooooooooo! my idea got accepted, looking forward to the items.

will the new amulets spawn in auctions only?

Thraklight Resonance June 25 2006 12:01 AM EDT

Makes sense. The Invisible Girl always seemed to be the last of the Fantastic Four to fall in a fight.

BMWheatley June 25 2006 12:03 AM EDT

Very nice change, Jon.

Two thumbs up!!!

TheEverblacksky June 25 2006 12:03 AM EDT

quick question.... how will that work w/ DD such as FB and CoC?

Flamey June 25 2006 12:04 AM EDT

sorry just read it properly.

AdminJonathan June 25 2006 12:04 AM EDT

magic is unaffected.

it's magic, after all. :)

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 25 2006 12:13 AM EDT

where is the info on the AC amulet?

Flamey June 25 2006 12:13 AM EDT

they haven't been seen in the game yet.

QBJohn Birk [Black Cheetah Bazaar] June 25 2006 12:14 AM EDT

As usual may existing supporters send $6 to receive the item?

AdminJonathan June 25 2006 12:20 AM EDT

Sefton: yes

TheEverblacksky June 25 2006 12:21 AM EDT

interesting.... so like a tank nerf, big blow to tanks... than again they can have that might you talk of or AC. How about rings now 0.-

AdminJonathan June 25 2006 12:36 AM EDT

BTW, the +10 on the AoI is just so the PR effect works out the way I want... it's equivalent to +20 DB in its effect on PTH.

QBsutekh137 June 25 2006 12:40 AM EDT

Magic is unaffected, including single-shot MM? Firing from the back, it will still hit the back target even if that targeted minion is wearing an AoI? (I didn't expect it to affect spread-fire -- how could it...but MM perhaps...)

TheEverblacksky June 25 2006 12:50 AM EDT

what if the minion wearing the amulet has PL? I'm assuming it would still hit him right.... since it is not a direct hit.

jayuu June 25 2006 1:00 AM EDT

The PL minion will still absorb damage, even if it's wearing an AoI. I just checked. :)

AdminJonathan June 25 2006 1:04 AM EDT

yes, including MM

(I did consider having it affect MM, but decided against it)

AdminJonathan June 25 2006 1:07 AM EDT

reminder: if you paypal me for the new item, please include your CB username so I know who it's for. :)

(you don't need to include character name, it always goes to your active char anyway.)

Vaynard [Fees Dirt Cheap] June 25 2006 1:18 AM EDT

Wow, very interesting addition. Thanks Jon! I just hope I can get my hands on one soon enough.

On a side note, for my own curiosity and for anyone wondering, Axbows still seek the highest DX minion, regardless of if they are wearing an AoI. I was worried this meant another indirect Axbow nerf!

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] June 25 2006 1:35 AM EDT

is it incompatible with any armor? like can you wear a tat and amulet or a power shield and amulet?

jayuu June 25 2006 2:03 AM EDT

You can wear it with a tattoo or a power shield.

Jon; Will it be possible to wear an amulet on each minion, or is it one per character (like tattoos)?

Nerevas June 25 2006 2:10 AM EDT

Yes I'd like to know what happens in the case of multiple minions wearing the AoI. Or what if all minions on a team wear it.

Flamey June 25 2006 2:13 AM EDT

i agree with nerevas, what will happen if all 4 wear a AoI, is it just then based on order?

jayuu June 25 2006 2:16 AM EDT

I was thinking more along the lines of the other amulets Jon mentioned.

AdminJonathan June 25 2006 2:40 AM EDT

if all standing minions are invisible then targetting is done normally.

Flamey June 25 2006 2:44 AM EDT

just as i thought, so what about jayuu's question. can you only have one type of amulet on the character or as many and different types you want?

AdminJonathan June 25 2006 2:47 AM EDT

each minion may wear one amulet

{Quitter}Gah June 25 2006 3:54 AM EDT

Seeker Arrows?

Flamey June 25 2006 4:58 AM EDT

i guess we have to figure out the effect of the AoM and AoAC?

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] June 25 2006 5:02 AM EDT

Actually, one question. I assume the amulet provides item based evasion, so stacks additively with DBs, but doesn't stack well with Skill based evasion?

bartjan June 25 2006 5:21 AM EDT

All Evasion stacks, so I assume this Amulet is no exception to that.

Xiaz on Hiatus June 25 2006 5:27 AM EDT

Here's the wiki entry. Click!

QBJohnnywas June 25 2006 5:33 AM EDT

Any penalties? For instance the Amulet of AC - does it affect magic? Or UC?

Flamey June 25 2006 5:37 AM EDT

from what i just tested no penalties to skills, ST, DX, EO, ED.

though im not sure about UC i dont have it, but basically nothing chagned as i rotated it on my minions.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] June 25 2006 5:43 AM EDT

Bart, "All Evasion stacks, so I assume this Amulet is no exception to that." That isn't quite correct.

Skill Evasion stacks with Skill Evasion as Effect + Effect, Item with Item in the same fashion. Skill and Item Evasion stacks like enchantments, Level + Level to determin the Effect, which is less than the other two methods.

I assume the AoI is Item based Evasion, so stacks well with DBs, but not the Evasion skill itself.

bartjan June 25 2006 5:54 AM EDT

Skills can't stack with skills, as you can only have one.

There's no such thing as "skill based" or "item based" when it comes to Evasion. Evasion just stacks by level, no matter what source.

This way makes sense, as it's similar to how enchantments stack.

Picasso June 25 2006 6:15 AM EDT

how rare should we expect the other two types of amulets to be?

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] June 25 2006 6:16 AM EDT

"There's no such thing as "skill based" or "item based" when it comes to Evasion."

Not true. :) I'll hunt out the changelog. :)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] June 25 2006 6:20 AM EDT

"Evasion skill and related items now stack differently; instead of evasion 30 + DB 30 = 60, it now stacks the way enchantments do: in this example, the total would be 39.
- (Evasion items-only stacking is unaffected; if you have a TBF and DB 30, your total evasion is still 40)"

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] June 25 2006 6:43 AM EDT

More thoughts on this.

"BTW, the +10 on the AoI is just so the PR effect works out the way I want... it's equivalent to +20 DB in its effect on PTH."

Freed has the largest pair of DBs, at +180. Addining a +10 AoI would take that minion to +200 Evasion. Nice! :D

Also, it would be the last targetted minion, so stick it at the front of three Es.

it's also an indirect PL nerf. There is no point using PL if your main damage dealer is using a AoI. (Unless your whole team is)

But the AoAC would do wonders on a PL back high AC wall...

AdminShade June 25 2006 8:09 AM EDT

"Finally, CoI, CH, and AG"

What's a CH? Cornut Haum?

Gallatin [Thanoscopter And You] June 25 2006 8:11 AM EDT

Shouldn't CH be Corn?

Xiaz on Hiatus June 25 2006 8:12 AM EDT

Cornuthaum Helm, maybe? Or maybe there's a NEW item coming? :D

AdminShade June 25 2006 8:16 AM EDT

CH is indeed Cornuthaum Helmet.

I fixed the wiki pages of CoI, Corn and AG to reflect recent AC changes.

Does the base AC from the CoI still block physical damage?

bartjan June 25 2006 8:24 AM EDT

CH is not Cornuthaum helm(et). It's the acronym for CornutHaum and always has been that for years. It's a mage hat, not a helmet.

QBJohnnywas June 25 2006 8:31 AM EDT

A Cornuthaum is one of those wizard hats, the tall cone shaped ones.

QBJohnnywas June 25 2006 8:48 AM EDT

Upgrade costs on the new item anyone?

Thrasher June 25 2006 9:56 AM EDT

I dont think its upgradeable

QBJohnnywas June 25 2006 10:02 AM EDT

Sorry, I didn't make that clear - upgrade on the new itemS - that is the non supporter Amulets....

bartjan June 25 2006 10:29 AM EDT

None of the new non-supporter items is in the hands of the general public right now. Wait until some auctions expire ;)

{Quitter}Gah June 25 2006 1:41 PM EDT

so now, what do the nonsupporter items do?

AdminShade June 25 2006 5:48 PM EDT

one of them gives AC, the other gives ST.

QBsutekh137 June 25 2006 5:50 PM EDT

AoM adds 2% STR per +.

AoAC probably does something similar for overall AC. Read the Wiki in the coming days and you will be far more knowledgeable than me...I can't be bothered with such trivial, obvious things. *smile*

Wasp June 25 2006 5:55 PM EDT

A +7 AoAC gives... 7 AC : )

Maelstrom June 25 2006 8:30 PM EDT

Wow, I go away for the weekend and come back to piles of changes! Am I glad I have lots of $CB saved up!

Jon, I forgive you for neglecting us - these changes just might pull me back - as long as my girlfriend doesn't notice, that is :S

[T]Vestax June 25 2006 8:33 PM EDT

"Introduced as Supporter item on 25 June 2005"

Somebody who edited the wiki pages for the Amulets is living in the past. Good thing I went and pulled these pages back into the present.

{Quitter}Gah June 25 2006 8:56 PM EDT

Ooops, Shade's original mistake on the date for Amulet of Invisibility, then I replicated it.

tscm June 26 2006 2:48 PM EDT

yes!!!! CHANGE!!! I love you Jon!!!

drudge June 26 2006 5:45 PM EDT

yeah...he picked my idea... alright.

AdminQBVerifex June 26 2006 6:15 PM EDT

Yay! He picked my idea too!

Gallatin [Thanoscopter And You] June 26 2006 8:23 PM EDT

What idea?
