Tank strategy, needs opinions! (in General)

AdminShade August 28 2006 6:25 AM EDT

Atm my character is the #53 of the MPR rankings.

Both my Enchanter and Tank share an (almost) equal amount of gained Experience.

I want some help in deciding which weapon to upgrade and what to upgrade on it.

Some stats of my tank:

HP: 931,460/931,460
ST: 909,650/200,000
DX: 687,398/400,000
AC: 93
Bloodlust: 212,000/200,000 (0.60)
Protection: 47,030/50,000 (18)

Among the items I have a pair of Displacement Boots +50 and an Amulet of Invisibility.

The weapons are:
Named Morgul-Hammer [84x2790] (+50)
Named Assassin's Crossbow [4x350] (+65)

Now my question is again, what should I upgrade and how far should I upgrade it to before upgrading something else?

Ah!

My axbow does an average damage of around 40k
My morgul hammer does an average damage of around 400k
my MPB is around 650k now I think.

Have you thought about going with an elb, considering the neutering of the axbows?

AdminShade August 28 2006 8:10 AM EDT

An ELB would indeed do more damage, though I am attached to the name of my Axbow... (which lasts for another 13 months)

Also imo the Axbow still is very useful, though indeed less than it was before.

you need the axbow to have more 'x' to do damage. pump the 'x' on the axbow and train more DX rather than ST, if you are already doing that, do it even more.

and we all now how much more 'x' is worth than ST, especially with constant upgrades.

reason is, i assume the '+' for the axbow is indeed large, and your opponent can have and probably will have DB's, thats why i think you should get more DX, because you need to hit before you can do damage.

I insist on training more DX and then pumping damage on the axbow, from your average damages, your axbow doesn't do much.

my ELB at 700k NW almost does that. now i know you have drain, but you have to make that useful by upgrading your 'x'.

400k a hit, seems pretty good, so, yeah the axbow :)

Another thing that would be good to realize is that:

Any ranged weapon only does 2 rounds of damage in ranged, in which my average fights last 6.2 rounds, which makes melee being more focused.

If I were to increase the damage from my Axbow I would make my Morg less useful perhaps, not?

I've said it before I'll say it again, up your dbs shade.

AdminShade August 28 2006 2:32 PM EDT

It's only about weapons now ;)

Id say the MH +. If you are doing around 400k per hit already, more double hits will help you a lot, as well as more hits against those larger db users.

Adminedyit [Superheros] August 28 2006 3:16 PM EDT

honestly Shade I'd say up the + on that MH of yours, yes you get PTH from your ToA but, a 2-handed weapon has less PTH than a 1-handed weapon, so my advice to you is ad 50 +'s to that morg.

VIVA LA TANKS!!

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] August 28 2006 4:04 PM EDT

I'll have to agree, getting that morg to +100 would be my next goal

AdminShade August 30 2006 10:53 AM EDT

Tested an Axbow more than double the X.

did 11k - 75k damage with my own
did 15k - 100k damage with the x1000 Axbow. (both named)

i however did quad hits with the x1000 +167 axbow (which is understandable)

I would go with some MH+, because upgrading the MH will give you more damage and more HP, whereas upgrading the axbow will only give slightly more of a dx edge, which you probably already have plenty of a dx edge in a large number of your battles. I say + because upping it by +50 is probably cheaper than upgrading damage an equally significant amount.

Furthermore, I would recommend you fund said upgrades by selling all of your armor and being a REAL MAN!!!
