Click Me!
I have no idea what the song is called, nor do I know who wrote/sang it, so 100k goes to whoever can provide me with such information (I really like the song for some reason).
Keep in mind that I have already googled snippets of the lyrics and I couldnt find anything so unless you are a really good googler it probably isnt on there.
If nobody can find anything, I will keep my money :P

Slashundhack [We Forge Our Own Stuff] September 10 2006 9:33 PM EDT

IT won't let me listen more than 15 secs. worth sounds like T.V.or Movie music.

QBRanger September 10 2006 9:57 PM EDT

I can hear it just fine.

Sounds like something from Deep Forest or someone in the genre-World Music I think it is called.

QBBarzooMonkey September 10 2006 10:03 PM EDT

It sounds like Loreena McKennit to me, but I just can't place it exactly... But I'm working on it....

QBOddBird September 10 2006 10:23 PM EDT

It won't play for me. =(

Dudster4 September 10 2006 10:39 PM EDT

it worked fine for me but i have never heard this song before

Tylan September 10 2006 11:32 PM EDT

can't get it to play, keeps cutting out.

Miandrital September 11 2006 12:00 AM EDT

Try me if the other didnt work.

Miandrital September 11 2006 12:54 AM EDT

Thanks to everyone who tried, but BM seems to have gotten it.
The closest song I could find was Mummer's Dance by Loreena McKennitt. It has a very similar melody, and so I am guessing she may have made a special version of the song, which was the one I posted. :)

Maelstrom September 11 2006 8:06 AM EDT

I can assure you that that song is not even a version of "The Mummer's Dance", and it most definitely is not sung by Loreena McKennitt. It sounds like a poor imitation of her style, and seems to have ripped off a melody from "The Mummer's Dance", but that's not what it is.

Seeing as there are at least dozens of followers of Loreena, it's hard to nail down who it could be. Do you have any other information about the track? Where did you find it?

QBBarzooMonkey September 11 2006 9:06 AM EDT

Thanks for that, but I knew Maelstrom would have better insight on it! I was thinking "It sounds like Loreena McKennitt's Mummer's Dance", but the lyrics and production are way different"...

But if it led to you discovering Loreena McKennit, excellent! :)

Maelstrom September 11 2006 9:16 AM EDT

You knew? Yeah, I am a Loreena McKennitt fan. Sorry if I sounded harsh: it does certainly sound like Loreena :D

Miandrital September 11 2006 1:42 PM EDT

Upon further examination of iTunes music store, it seems there are 5-6 different people who have songs entitled mummer's dance. Do either of you know who actually made that song? Or is it some kind of cultural music that many people have made versions of?

I extracted the song from some video (dont remember which, sry). I really liked the song though. Loreena McKennitt is pretty good, I really like her music.
I just paid the money the BM sent back for a debt, but once I make some more money ill send some to both you guys for your help :)

RaptorX September 11 2006 2:57 PM EDT

Thanks -- it was a nice song to listen too -- sounds like Celtic movie music to me.. esp at the beginning -- something to do with Knights and wizards. :)

Thraklight Resonance September 11 2006 8:11 PM EDT

I could probably figure out who it is if I could get it to play long enough to hear the voice, but I keep getting kicked out after 8 seconds on both. Kate Price comes to mind as one possibility, and Caroline Lavelle did some stuff with William Orbit in the mid-90s that ventures into Loreena land at times. There are also a few Scandanavian groups that could be candidates.

I've only been listening to Loreena's recordings for 21 years. I can't wait for the new cd to come out. :-)

Maelstrom September 11 2006 8:19 PM EDT

Hate to tell you, Angelus, but Loreena retired from music when her husband died of a sudden heart attack, years ago. Hence the lack of new albums... :(

Thraklight Resonance September 11 2006 8:33 PM EDT

Loreena's boyfriend, Ronald Rees, died in a boating accident in 1997, and she has only worked on some soundtrack pieces since then. But the new cd will be released in a month or so.

In the lead-up to the release of her new studio recording An Ancient Muse, Loreena McKennitt and a stellar band of musical colleagues are to perform three outdoor concerts at the fabled Alhambra monument in Granada, Spain on September 13, 14 and 15, 2006

Guess where I want to be this week. :-)

Maelstrom September 11 2006 8:51 PM EDT

OK, so I got some details wrong ;)

I had no idea that she was doing soundtracks, nor that she would release a new album. That's very very good news! :D

Thraklight Resonance September 11 2006 10:18 PM EDT

Loreena has done a number of soundtracks for Canadian films over the years and has appeared in at least two films that used her music (Heaven On Earth is the one that I can recall off the top of my head where she had a speaking role), and she has contributed the music for a number of performances over the years at the Shakespeare festival in Stratford (she lives near there and is active in the community).
