Go Watch The Teaser Trailer To My Short Film (in Off-topic)

Go either here or here to watch it, and please let me know what you think!

Oh, I just realized that the second one is a lot better quality. For some reason the compression for the youtube one made it look real dark.

QBRanger October 16 2006 8:34 AM EDT

Very interesting.

Cannot wait to see the full short. If that makes sense.

Nice, it looks awsome, will you post when the movie is done?

AdminShade October 16 2006 8:56 AM EDT

Wow, will send this along to my friends for some inspiration on our short film! :)

Fantastic trailer, cooking up intrigue. Can't wait to watch the full deal. Nice work, Mem!

Looks very good, and far more professional than I imagined. This may not really be a compliment, but that trailer itself is better than all the short films I've seen by the local film college ;)

Slashundhack [We Forge Our Own Stuff] October 16 2006 10:30 AM EDT

Very good trailer pro like, but for some reason I was disappointed when I seen the primary actor not sure why? Oh maybe I realized it wasn't a pro movie?? Yea thats it.

Mem October 16 2006 2:30 PM EDT

Slashundhack, there needs to be a distinction made when you make that statement-- he is a professional actor, but he is not a "movie star". There's a huge difference. And considering we made this short for about $150 we couldn't exactly go out and hire movie stars.

Thanks to all of you who liked it! And definitely show it to as many people as you can!

P.S. Unfortunately, we're not going to be able to show the completed version via any public viewing forum until after it has completed its film festival circuit, which won't be until March. Once again, I will be more than happy to send out a DVD copy of it provided that you (a) don't show it in public and (b) you pay for the shipping.

As other people have stated, this trailer is pretty interesting.

Professional and intriguing.

Good job.

I didn't think it was bad .I just thought my first reaction might be useful to you .I did want to watch it all and that kind of movie I generally won't watch. You know that detective murder kind of thing.

deifeln October 16 2006 4:40 PM EDT

Very cool Mem.

Will the plot be similar to "Mem"-ento?

:o)

Mem October 16 2006 5:19 PM EDT

It actually is very much like Memento, deif, but like Memento if Humphrey Bogart did a similar style film.

As far as there not being any name actors, I'm well aware. This wasn't a short that was intended to be a huge money maker otherwise we'd have made a feature film and cast some name talent. This was an exercise in showing people that we know our craft, and incidently, it's the first project I've done that I'm more than happy to put my name on.

Very well done. Looks interesting.

Some questions me and my friends are longing to be answered:

How long have you been busy with this short film?
How many 'actors' are featured in it?
How long will it actually be?
What camera was it filmed on?

Mem October 17 2006 5:10 PM EDT

How long have you been busy with this short film?

It took us four months to complete from concept to completion, including an actual casting call, and while attending school 40 hours a week.

How many 'actors' are featured in it?

There are two actors featured in it that have a lengthy body of work, and the other three are students, and aspiring actors, at the school I go to.

How long will it actually be?

The final running time has not yet been decided, but it will be anywhere from 6-10 minutes.

What camera was it filmed on?

It was shot on the Sony HVR-Z1U, which is, incidentally, the same camera that I sold a lot of my CB stuff in order to help save up for. (You can't technically say that you "filmed" anything on a video camcorder...)

I'll be happy to answer any other question you all have. :)
