Ideas for Change month (in General)

Hyrule Castle [Defy] November 12 2006 1:12 AM EST

Lets hear you ideas for change month, which is rapidly approaching.

Something that i thought of, would be to have item(s) that could add hp.

I don't think there are any of these out there, except for the items that increase your AS, which increases your hp.

But i am talking like a helm, that when equipped adds 10% additional hp fixed, or 1% per (+)

Either way something along those lines would be cool.

And of course, maybe a new holiday theme. ? Pixel Sage, can u do anything about that? Please?

Pertaining to the Cone of Cold [CoC] spell:

CoC will provide endurance only to the minion training that spell, somewhat like the JKF, which will defend against AMF and GA retaliation. Additionally, the CoC trained mage when wearing the AoI will be targeted last by decay, unlike in the present instance, when decay strikes it when it is first in line regardless of its wearing an AoI. Lastly, making the CoC mage wearing an AoI invisible to seeker/slayers would enable survival into melee when the spell actually begins to function.

muon [The Winds Of Fate] November 12 2006 4:05 AM EST

Chuck... why would anybody use anything other than CoC if its major weakness was resolved and then a major strength added on top of it?

I mean, I agree that CoC needs something, but it occurs to me that such a radical set of changes would completely unbalance the game.

If you ask me, CoC should just have something like:

percentage to cause a "freeze opponent" when it strikes; stunning them for a round of combat.

Or perhaps, an effect similar to Vorpal Blade (but perhaps 20% instead of 40%).

Just an edge to make it worthwhile, without completely unbalancing it...

Just my two cents... flames / suggestions welcome ...

chuck1234 November 12 2006 4:18 AM EST

ok, muon, since CoC effectively provides more damage per trained xp, one can train xp for CoC equivalent to a given MM effect, and use up the remainder of the xp for HP, which in effect is a kind of endurance gift indirectly. But, the decay and seeker/ slayer protection is essential because the CoC starts only in melee and the former can impair severely in 1st melee while the latter can even finish off in ranged.

Flamey November 12 2006 4:26 AM EST

decay is melee, CoC is good, you just gotta find a way, it is still the strongest.

I don't want to argue though, not up for it :)

My hope is that Jon will do something to add an economy to the game, one in which it is possible to gain money through a method that is faster than fighting. I'm not sure how he would want to do that, or even if he wants to, but if he does, that would make this game a whole lot fun for me and several other people.

Barring that, he could go ahead and implement tournies. We would all love that too. ^.~

chuck1234 November 12 2006 5:10 AM EST

even now there's a method to gain money in the gain faster than by fighting. You need a paypal account for that though, and you'd have to undergo the exertion of typing a FS/WTB post advertising your need for CB$ in exchange for PayPal USD. Many have opted for that route, you can ask them for feedback :)

Flamey November 12 2006 5:46 AM EST

tournies, yes, tournies, i want them.

people will play even if there is a small prize, 100k, heck i would do it for the fun of it and testing of strategy, it would nice.

week-long i believe?

He said a method to gain money, not to trade currencies. Silly. ^_^

1) VA to work with bows.

2) A helm mages could wear other than a cab. Such as an elven helm or magic boosting one.

3) The removal of seekers.

Give mages a real skill to train...
nerf evasion back to christmas

QBOddBird November 12 2006 11:12 AM EST

1) Keen Swordsmanship. An increase in CTH in exchange for a decrease in damage done. The counterpart to Bloodlust.

2) Double Cast. A skill trained to 10% of the DD in order to cast twice per round, with each casting at 50% of the spell's power.

This would be useful against teams with PL and cases where a minion has very few HP left and you don't want to waste 300k damage killing a minion with 40 HP left. You exchange AMF resistance and some damage for increased damage efficiency.

"Give mages a real skill to train...

didn't they already nerf evasion a little while ago?

and for BBQ's double cast, wouldn't the AMF eat the mage alive even more? Or would the 2nd round be nullified by AMF?

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] November 12 2006 3:40 PM EST

Well, Evasion got a HUGE boost, then toned back a wee bit.

As much as I love evasion, I will admit the way it is now its pretty busted (in ranged). Novices team has twice the PR of mine, and yet I am able to farm to my hearts content...due to one minion at a minimal investment.

I don't think the skill should be killed, but it needs to be scaled back a bit. Maybe x2 during round three, x1.5 round 2 and x1.2 round three of ranged. The biggest problem with evasion is archers get nailed twice, first by the increased pth reduction, and again by the large dex gap.

I love the skill and would like for it to stay the same, but in its current form its just a bit too good :D

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] November 12 2006 3:42 PM EST

x2 in round 1...thought I should mention that...doi

2) A helm mages could wear other than a cab. Such as an elven helm or magic boosting one.

Thats the one I've been waiting to happen for quite a few change months. Still not happened yet. It's silly that every other type of minion has a proper "rare" helm apart from mages, and with all the tank boosts (ish) lately I think mages really deserve some sort of bone.

Agreed...

Forge November 12 2006 4:15 PM EST

How about a spell or effect that has some chance to work and then would deal some constant amount of damage each round (like a poison effect)? I'd enjoy seeing that.

th00p November 12 2006 5:00 PM EST

"with all the tank boosts (ish) lately I think mages really deserve some sort of bone."

Evasion boost... Archery nerf... what?
Side note: dual-wielding really has no place here guys, it's been brought up and suggested about 50 too many times already, Jon is right in keeping it out of this game.

QBOddBird November 12 2006 5:16 PM EST

dual-wielding was suggested? I miss something?

th00p November 12 2006 5:32 PM EST

Oops. Not that dual-casting does either, but...

Slashundhack [We Forge Our Own Stuff] November 12 2006 5:54 PM EST

How about a spell that makes Jon into a Hef. clone. You know the 5 blond girlfriends not the pipe thing.Oh yes and cheerleaders!

Tezmac November 13 2006 4:46 PM EST

I still want an armor allowance.

QBsutekh137 November 13 2006 5:39 PM EST

Tez, you already have an armor allowance with the PR weighting scheme, no?

Hyrule Castle [Defy] November 13 2006 5:49 PM EST

got some good ideas guys, keep them coming.

Another thing that would be a possibility but would probably never EVER happen... would be the ability to place a certain bid in auctions even if your not there.

What you would be able to do is when bidding at an auction, you could put a max price that you are willing to bid, and not go over that. Also you wouldn't have to be there to vote. It would get rid of the annoying central bank outvoting you... which many people complain about imo. But i don't think it would work, because if someone knew what you would buy, and it automatically bid, people would just be able to keep u bidding high, so you wated your money.

Any thoughts on that idea?

Surf or... nerf?
