Naming and items that increase stats per point (in General)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] November 27 2006 3:39 PM EST

Quick question, when you name an item, the 4% naming bonus takes base AC and Upgraded AC into account.

How does this work for items that give a plus to stats per point?

For example. A pair of +25 Elven Boots. If named, this takes them 1.04 * (10 + 25) = 37 AC.

Do they provide a 27% increase to Dex? Or just 25 *10.4 = 26%?

:/

27% (i tested this, the bonus gets calculated from the combined AC. the DX you get is AC - base)

When having my +25 named EBs equiped:

DX: 422,910/333,000 = 1,27 = 27% :)

i agree with shade.... heres proof DX: 21/20

with my EBs +17...

:D

no, it doesn't include the base AC; it's just rounding fractional bonuses up, like it says on the name-an-item page.

Thanks Jon, so the +25 EBs actually give +26% Dex and not +27%?

"no, it doesn't include the base AC; it's just rounding fractional bonuses up, like it says on the name-an-item page."

But there's no fraction. 1.04 * 25 = 26 exactly. Since it's clear that the bonus is exactly 27%, it implies that it would have to be (1.04 * 35) - 10.

Whoops, yes, Shade is right. Maybe I'll fix that next month. I guess for now it's a "feature." :)

Naming armor increases its stats by 4% -- also rounding up -- whether this is AC (for most armor) or something else such as for tattoos or Displacement Boots. (This 4% is treated as "enchantment bonus" so it will apply to magical as well as physical damage.) For instance, if you had a normal AC of 150, 40 from a (base) named Adamantite Cuirass, your effective AC would be 150 + 0.04 * 40 = 151.6 rounded up to 152. (The bonus always rounds up.) This bonus is displayed in your Minion's total AC, but not on the individual armor piece.

Per the BS item naming page

So as I understand:

10 + 25 =35 times 1.04 = 36.4

36.4 Rounds to 37.

37 - 10 (base AC) = 27, the new effective + on the item which gives +27% to dex.

No problems or bugs as I see it.

It's a bug as it was only intended to increase the stat boosting property by 25 * 1.05, and not take the items base AC (which doesn't effect the stat boost in any way) into account. ;)

Either way I'm easy.

Joy, I was/am right :p
