Monty, oops I mean Multi: jD (in Public Record)

AdminG Beee December 22 2006 9:29 AM EST

Monty makes an attempt to return and is banned, again...

Banned jD (aka Monty).

QBRanger December 22 2006 9:34 AM EST

I miss Monty.

He is sort of like the PC in those Mac/PC commercials. Always messing things up.

Perhaps we can let him back for comic relief.

Wasp December 22 2006 10:15 AM EST

How can you tell that it was Monty? Same old ip?

Relic December 22 2006 10:23 AM EST

I for one would agree that he has been banned for quite some time, maybe it is time to give him another chance. If he pulls the same mischief again, we can always ban him again right? :)

AdminG Beee December 22 2006 10:28 AM EST

He was certainly one of our more entertaining trouble makers. However, banned is banned and I see no way back for someone like Monty. As much as I liked the kid he got more than his fair share of breaks.

Relic December 22 2006 11:05 AM EST

Age does occasionally impart wisdom, and it has been well over a year since his ban I believe. Maybe he has wised up?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 22 2006 11:10 AM EST

Yeah, someone with no regard for others should certainly be let back in for comic relief...

I defended Monty until almost the end of things, but even I can't understand the reaction here. He would be coming back to a game where he left people hundred of dollars down from where they were before he got here...giving him a shiny new account, or even access back into his old one seems asinine, and no more than a political ploy.

Relic December 22 2006 11:17 AM EST

Political ploy? Wow, I try to offer a little understanding through forgiveness and be accused of vying for a political position. I am stunned by that comment novice. I expected better from you.

Tezmac December 22 2006 11:21 AM EST

I agree, banned is banned and he doesn't belong anywhere near this game. However...

How much money (USD) did he scam from people? Yes, I used the word scam, thats what he did. If people are honestly serious about letting this joker back in the game, let's make sure he sends the money he owes via Paypal to the people he ripped off before we let him back.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 22 2006 11:25 AM EST

wasn't talking specifically about you Glory...but I do have to wonder if christmas has cooked yer brain...

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] December 22 2006 11:38 AM EST

think of it this way, if instead of paying you for those dbs all that time ago, I failed to send the money, kept the dbs and got reset/banned for it...would you now be advocating for my return?

Relic December 22 2006 12:50 PM EST

I believe that people can grow up and change given time. Yes, I would advocate your return in the same scenario. I do not hold grudges, they are a waste of time. I hold no ill will toward Monty whatsoever.

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] December 22 2006 1:00 PM EST

Problem: If you let a banned player in, chances are you will have to let others back in too, to be fair. Also, you would have to set up a certain amount of time before you can be forgiven and let back in. Forgiveness procedures would absolutely need to be standardized to avoid conflict. Scamming, chat flooding, are they different in gravity? Also, how do you determine the amount of banning time each offense brings the perpetretor?

My point being: You let him back, there is gonna be lots of hassle and flamey discussions.

I hope I make sense.

kevinLeong December 22 2006 4:04 PM EST

There is a major difference between cheating in a game (ie. using multiple accounts to get a "super" account) and STEALING in a game (ie. scamming). When you scam/steal from people in a game I don't think second chances should be granted. A "forgive and forget" policy is ridiculous, especially when you cannot talk face to face with the person.

He was banned for a reason, he should STAY banned for that very reason.

The only way he could prove he learned his lesson would be to send each person he scammed their money (in USD) back. Then I'd believe he wants forgiveness.

Arorrr December 22 2006 4:56 PM EST

In the holiday spirit, I comment Glory for his Monty's forgiveness. This is a kind deed. It takes a lot to forgive and forget. We should follow Glory's lead.

On the other hand, I don't think Monty should be allowed back. He scammed people. His action rewarded him a place in CB annal, as in referencing Monty-scam. I think it serves as a great reminder to everyone.

I still chuckle about Monty "I need a new computer; therefor I'm."

Slashundhack [We Forge Our Own Stuff] December 22 2006 11:16 PM EST

I am too new to really have a opinion but it sounds like he's the type that needs to be banned .And have a memorial practice dummy for the new players on the way up. Sort of a object lesson for the larcenous !
