Looks like the minion died, so the other MM targeted the next minion

But, rounds are figured out all at once, no in the round. So if a minion dies in a round, the target does not change afaik. That is why I believe this to be a bug. My minion Spice should have been pummeled again in the round, and Zest should have lived for one more round.

The MM mage and MM familiar are 2 different attackers.
If the MM mage kills his target, the MM familiar (which is a separate minion) targets the next available target.

I was under the impression that that was figured out per round, not per death.

Nope, you were mistaken.
Each minion is separate in determining who it attacks. If its target is dead, it moves to the next if the minion before it kills its target.
You likely were thinking about a tank persistently hitting a minion well into the negatives 3 or 4 times in combat.

so what about double hits, for ranged attacks, they both have to hit the same minion right? Not like he can pick off 2 minions with the double shot
maybe this happenned cause on is offense and the other is defense..or bug?

that is the answer, there is no bug, doesn't matter whether you're defending or attacking, either.
