Realm: Gondor | Lórien | Rivendell | Shire (in General)

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 7 2007 11:30 AM EST

Well like most of you noticed everything with an umlaut or ' above the o like in lorien is now this sign: ý.
Even characters have those signs.
Happend since the latest down time.

Are these signs here to stay?

Miandrital January 7 2007 11:33 AM EST

Change your character encoding in your browser and it will be fine.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 7 2007 11:35 AM EST

well my browser like many others can read umlaut.
This is not at my end but at the server end.
because they are non ASCII characters CB doesnt correctly displays these

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 7 2007 11:37 AM EST

Im writing this with IE now and lorien now displays as Lrien.
Also interesting. Its at my end.
But how do i change the character coding in firefox then?

[MP]MoneyPig [SNB Forging Services] January 7 2007 11:41 AM EST

Not sure if I understood your last post, but in firefox its here: view->character encoding

bartjan January 7 2007 11:44 AM EST

CB should specify a character encoding (and obey it...). iso-8859-1 should work?

Miandrital January 7 2007 12:43 PM EST

iso-8859-1 does indeed work for me.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 7 2007 12:47 PM EST

all right iso-8859-1 is working mine was set to unicode UTF-8

bartjan January 7 2007 12:48 PM EST

You shouldn't be setting it. The webserver should.

AdminShade January 7 2007 12:50 PM EST

Can this be changed then?

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 7 2007 12:53 PM EST

Using firefox i dont see an option "automatic"

bartjan January 7 2007 1:05 PM EST

FireFox is *not* a web server...

AdminShade January 7 2007 1:46 PM EST

But Jonathan can change it?

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 7 2007 1:47 PM EST

didnt catch that part sorry about that.
But ya so it is server side problem?

Maelstrom January 7 2007 1:53 PM EST

The drop-down menus (opponents, your own characters) will only display ASCII though. Setting the encoding does not affect those two things.

Unappreciated Misnomer January 7 2007 11:29 PM EST

my firefox is set to iso8859-1 by default, and i still see the 'Subject: Realm: Gondor | Lrien | Rivendell | Shire ' in the title.

its just me i know,i know

Phrede January 8 2007 5:39 AM EST

I have very recently gone to firefox and I have made no changes at all and Lorien displays fine.

Wasp January 8 2007 6:18 AM EST

It's displaying funny for me aswell. I'm running on IE6

AdminShade January 8 2007 6:24 AM EST

For me, these realms show perfectly normal.

In the fightlist however, it is still borked for me.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 8 2007 6:58 AM EST

I just changed it into iso-8859-1, everything now is normal except the title of this post.

AdminShade January 8 2007 7:03 AM EST

And now? btw you had Lýrien instead of Lórien...

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 8 2007 7:06 AM EST

O_O Seconds ago the title of this thread displayed incorrectly for me. I went to the stats - character - standings page, and it displayed fine.

I came back to this thread, and the title is now fine.

:/

AdminShade January 8 2007 7:07 AM EST

I fixed that :)

bartjan January 8 2007 7:16 AM EST

The point of the original thread is to show what was broken...

AdminShade January 8 2007 8:38 AM EST

D'oh... anyway this thread still exists...

Brakke Bres [Ow man] January 8 2007 10:39 AM EST

i just copy pasted it from the realm overview.
Something went wrong with the copy paste, i guess.
But everything is displaying perfectly now!
