Favorite Superhero? (in Off-topic)

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 19 2007 3:51 PM EST

Well, me and OB got to debating and I argued that the coolest superhero was The Flash and he said he believed that Green Lantern was the best. So, who's your favorite comic superhero? It can't be Spiderman because well... because no one likes Spiderman. :P

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 19 2007 3:55 PM EST

same answer as before...Famke...

QBOddBird January 19 2007 3:57 PM EST

I don't believe it. I know it.

Green Lantern OWNS.

xD

AdminG Beee January 19 2007 3:58 PM EST

As a kid growing up in the 1970's my favourite superhero was Wonder Woman :)

QBsutekh137 January 19 2007 4:05 PM EST

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 19 2007 4:07 PM EST

Luke Cage (Marvel)

Ryu (Street Fighter)

I'm sure there's more! ;)

QBJohnnywas January 19 2007 4:16 PM EST

Lynda Carter. Ah. Now that takes me back. Wonderful.

Thanks G. :D

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 19 2007 4:33 PM EST

Oh puh-leez, GL is so lame. Green boots, white gloves? Total failure.

The Flash is so awesome. Super speed, intangability, time travel, ability to "steal speed" from anything, speed-reading, speed-thinking, speed-talking, and best of all... THE ABILITY TO CREATE HIS COSTUME OUT OF PURE SPEED ENERGY. And what an awesome costume it is... much better than green boots/white gloves.

QBsutekh137 January 19 2007 4:41 PM EST

Yeah, but Flash is just barely faster than Superman.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 19 2007 4:46 PM EST

Just barely. But that "barely" enough allows him to time travel, create gusts of wind, etc. Superman hasn't been able to become intangible because of his speed or run faster than the speed of light. And besides, The Flashes could easily steal Superman's kinetic energy and momentum if they wanted to, which would increase their speed by that much, and would completely stop his movement. Superman is probably my second favorite superhero. But then again, he does wear his underwear on the outside.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 19 2007 4:57 PM EST

When did the Flash get his powers buffed from just the ability to run really fast? o_O

QBOddBird January 19 2007 4:59 PM EST

Bah. Ulquiorra has to resort to badly-drawn fanart in order to make Green Lantern look bad - as for how powerful GL is, I think this cover from when Hal Jordan destroyed and remade the DC Universe explains it all:

QBBarzooMonkey January 19 2007 5:01 PM EST

DC Superheroes are sooooo lame! Give me a Marvel "flawed" superhero any day!

My favorites growing up were Thor, The Hulk, Iron Man, Ghost Rider and Punisher, and hey! I have always liked Spiderman!!!
:D

QBJohnnywas January 19 2007 5:02 PM EST

oh dear, the comic geek in me that I thought I left behind has just resurfaced at the sight of a George Perez drawing. I'd know that style anywhere, even though I think I was more interested in getting drunk and chasing girls at that time. Or was that getting girls and chasing drunks?

Gandalf January 19 2007 5:04 PM EST

mine was Ryu too playing Street fighter on the sega was awesome. =)

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 19 2007 5:16 PM EST

It's not badly drawn fan-art. That's the depicture of Hal Jordan in Superman the Animated Series. And I think that cover portrays him as Parallax, which means he isn't Green Lantern, right? And as for that cover, so what? There was a machine made by Alexander Luthor Jr. that created worlds infinitely. Superboy-Prime punched the walls of his pocket universe and the resulting waves altered time in different universes. Destroying a universe isn't particularly amazing, especially since he still needs to recharge his ring every night. The Speed Force is described as the source of all kinetic energy, which means if Hal destroyed it, he would have completely been frozen in time. Since that means the Speed Force isn't destroyed, The Flash could always retreat to it while Hal goes on his universal rampage. Or, if he wanted to, The Flash could travel anywhere back in the past and destroy Hal when he was a baby or something.

kevinLeong January 19 2007 5:19 PM EST

Iron Man/War Machine, Captain America, Captain Planet, Silver Surfer, and Gambit for sure.

Adminedyit [Superheros] January 19 2007 5:22 PM EST

anyone read Spawn?

kevinLeong January 19 2007 5:23 PM EST

Yes, I forgot to include Spawn. But boy the movie was awful.

QBOddBird January 19 2007 5:37 PM EST

I'd continue to argue my point with you, OpVines, but I know how stubborn you are - it'd just be another Pirates v. Ninjas type discussion, and I don't feel like going there. I agree to disagree (but GL is still the greatest).

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] January 19 2007 5:38 PM EST

Strange thing is, around here nobody ever reads comics. I have yet to lay my eyes on at least one of these books...Or an amateur of the genre. Of course, I could just live in a bubble and not see what's going on :p

Now, I've heard about and seen pretty pathetic attempts to : commercialize this phenomenon here, such as Capitaine Quebec and Captain Canuck on the web, but I wonder, why is there such a disinterest in superheroes here?

Anyways, I was just trying to point out I can't base myself on the books to form an opinion. We do however have a couple tv shows and the only heroes I know are the most basic ones...Spiderman, Batman and Superman.

Choosing from these three, i'd have to go with Spiderman. Dunno, he just looks to me like he is more human than the other two, almost a normal Joe, you know, only with the ability to shoot spider webs :p

Batman has no super-powers whatsoever, and i'm not a fan of the whole ''dark and mysterious hero'' theme around him.

And well, Superman is just TOO super.

Slashundhack [We Forge Our Own Stuff] January 19 2007 5:43 PM EST

My favorites were FLASH, the hulk, fantastic 4 and spiderman but I'm not into tieing people up.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 19 2007 5:51 PM EST

Yeah, I agree to disagree too, even though The Flash could pummel GL a ton of times before GL even realizes he's been hit once.

Drack January 19 2007 6:04 PM EST

There are arguements like this all over the net

and most of the time (if not all the time) popularity wins,
last time i checked batman is the most popular? which in turn means he can beat every other superhero... lol...

QBRanger January 19 2007 6:24 PM EST

I don't know why, but I always liked Rogue from the X-Men.

They really gave that character a lot of depth especially after she stole Mrs. Marvel's powers.

QBOddBird January 19 2007 6:27 PM EST

Did she ever get her own book?

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 19 2007 6:46 PM EST

Actually according to the superhero countdown on VH1, Spiderman is the most popular superhero, followed by Superman. So I guess if you're in that kind of mindframe then Spiderman beats all other superheroes.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] January 19 2007 8:50 PM EST

Although the Ultimate Thor is a really great character.

Actually a lot of the Ultimates are. The Ultimate Hulk is brilliant. ;)

JaKobi1Kenobi [Shrimp gang] January 19 2007 8:58 PM EST

batman would beat you all think about it you all got weakness but batman hes a lone ranger and he will always be he make a gun that could shoot out kryptonight and kill super man done he could make a suit that would make him as fast as the flash and hes got a black cape

Thraklight Resonance January 19 2007 10:20 PM EST

And what did we learn about capes from watching "The Incredibles?"

TheHatchetman January 19 2007 10:24 PM EST

OB, is Green Lantern using Ethereal Chains in that picture? And wouldn't it take a big one to nuke Superman's ST? :P

Drack January 19 2007 10:25 PM EST

yea ulquiorra - im a bit out dated i guess.. but i remember a few years ago it was batman.. they make up like incredible amounts of crap just so he wins

hahahaha @ spiderman.. i wonder what they'll say "he dodges anything with spider-sense"

TheHatchetman January 19 2007 10:30 PM EST

"but batman hes a lone ranger"

Hmmm... What happened to Robin?

JaKobi1Kenobi [Shrimp gang] January 19 2007 10:33 PM EST

robin doesnt count he is just just just a .................................well a side kick and who needs a side kick what did he really do

QBOddBird January 19 2007 10:33 PM EST

They broke up, he was seeing someone else

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 19 2007 10:34 PM EST

Well, in the DC Universe, anything that travels faster than the speed of light will eventually find themselves in the Speed Force. All The Flashes teamed up to drag Superboy-Prime into the Speed Force hoping it would kill him, and the only reason why he survived was well... because he's freaking Superboy-Prime, and it took 2 Supermans to defeat him. So even if Batman did find a way to get a suit which allowed him to travel faster than The Flash, he would really be committing suicide. But I think Batman is the least favorite of my heroes. He's really corny. And emo. And goth. "Oh look at me my parents died so now I'll fight crime and be Mr. Scary Dark Knight even though I don't have powers!"

Drack January 20 2007 2:52 AM EST

batman knows how to beat flash

in one release batman developed a "vibrating" bullet which kept flash in a constant epileptic state...

sounds lame aye... lol... but true this was published

Josh [Cult of the Valaraukar] January 20 2007 7:06 PM EST

Batman
Wolverine
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The Green/White Power Ranger
Ash Ketchum

In that order.

GO PATS January 20 2007 7:15 PM EST

Wolverine is uber.

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] January 20 2007 7:24 PM EST

Gambit is the best of the X-Men, exploding cards, great martial artist and the coolest of cool,
:)

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 20 2007 9:52 PM EST

I liked the original Green/White Power Ranger too. I liked how the Green Ranger had a dagger that he played as a flute. And how the White Ranger had a dagger with a talking tiger pommel.

My favorite X-Man of all time is easily Magneto. He's just so frickin' awesome.

<<(Note to self: MUST resist the temptation to say KISS>>
Either:
Angela or Jade (from the Spawn comics)?
Apocalypse (or maybe Venom or Carnage)?
G-Force (from Battle of the Planets)?
Psylocke?

TheHatchetman January 27 2007 10:10 AM EST

Charmander!
:P

TheHatchetman January 27 2007 10:11 AM EST

wow... the spell checker recognizes Poke Mon... sad...

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 30 2007 5:01 AM EST

I change my mind. I think Green Arrow's the coolest superhero, even though he has no powers. :o

QBOddBird January 30 2007 3:11 PM EST

AND he's friends with Green Lantern!

Good choice!

TheHatchetman January 30 2007 4:14 PM EST

hehe, always acting on impulse, are we?

BootyGod January 30 2007 6:21 PM EST

George W. Bush. It IS a power to be so ridiculous, is it not?

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] January 30 2007 6:36 PM EST

His ridiculousness borders on genius.
