Secret formula. (in Contests)

100k to the person who can tell me what this formula is used to calculate.

AdminG Beee February 7 2007 12:21 PM EST

No, no, no and no.

That said, I can draw parallels from all your guesses to the answer I'm looking for.

QBJohnnywas February 7 2007 12:23 PM EST

The formula to work out how much love in your heart.

Or your trousers/kilt depending on the time of the year

[MP]MoneyPig [SNB Forging Services] February 7 2007 12:45 PM EST

You use it to calculate ß (if it doesn't show up right: it's meant to be that b-like character)

bartjan February 7 2007 12:49 PM EST

You mean β?

AdminG Beee February 7 2007 12:52 PM EST

And β equals what? ;)

SNK3R February 7 2007 12:53 PM EST

Well, β should equal β... ;)

AdminShade February 7 2007 1:06 PM EST

Something with viscosity?

bartjan February 7 2007 1:18 PM EST

Because of that Dirac function, the entire equation doesn't make much sense to me... β equals zero for all values of S, except when S=-1, then β is ∞

Vo = Snellen visual acuity; (6/6 normal; 6/12 just meets driving standard)

muon [The Winds Of Fate] February 7 2007 1:56 PM EST

My guess (and it is purely shooting from the hip) is that it is a formula to describe reaction time (perhaps distance, but I'm thinking time) of a pilot/driver to visual stimulus.

QBsutekh137 February 7 2007 2:17 PM EST

Thanks G_Beee...your clue just basically made it a Google competition -- it was fourth link on the page when I googled it. *smile*

AdminG Beee February 7 2007 2:59 PM EST

Oops my bad. I actually only meant to post "Vo = Snellen visual acuity" as the clue but c&p'd the rest by mistake.

Oh well, fastest on the google also wins I guess :)

QBsutekh137 February 7 2007 4:35 PM EST

That part was all I googled, along with the words "beta" and "equation". Fourth link on google. *smile* With the rest, I am sure it would have been top hit.

QBRanger February 7 2007 5:12 PM EST

Bad Beee.

That link you posted messes everything up. When I click on it, another browser pops up and then anytime I click something on CB, another browser wants to open.

QBRanger February 7 2007 5:13 PM EST

At least in FF, which is my current browser of choice.

Barth, the website you got your user pic from should have been called the Joy of Techs. ;)
