Did I miss a changelog? (in General)

AdminNightStrike June 25 2007 6:03 PM EDT

Exbows no longer drain a fixed amount. Previously, I could hit for 1 damage or 479375983458793 damage, and the exbow would drain the same amount of ST from the target. Further, it was a function of my own trained ST as well as the exbow's "x". This is no longer seemingly the case. Any ideas as to why/when?

QBRanger June 25 2007 6:16 PM EDT

No, you seem to be draining quite a lot of str from a hit doing 10 damage to my tank.

427,533 left from 3.4M with only 1 hit.

AdminNightStrike June 25 2007 6:18 PM EDT

I am noticing it against Failure. I seem to drop him below zero on some occasions, and not on others. I always get one hit in the last round of ranged, and my EC takes care of his PL minion. There's some other variable messing things up here, and I don't know what.

Incidentally, it's kinda funny to see me drop your strength by such great amounts and still lose :) Just wait until I'm ready for my RBF! Rue the day, you will!

QBRanger June 25 2007 6:19 PM EDT

So, let me clarify for those bad at math:

One hit doing a measly 10 points damage drained my tank from 3,420,000 down to 427,533 strength. Almost 90% of my strength sucked out with barely a scratch. Considering your tank has 0 strength after my EC was cast. Not even enough strength to really lift it, but hey, it's part of the game.

I would say the exbow is doing just fine.

QBRanger June 25 2007 6:22 PM EDT

In 5 battles vs your character, you hit me in all 5 doing from 3 to 10 damage. 1 hit each time.

Each time my strength was drained to the exact same amount.

QBJohnnywas June 25 2007 6:23 PM EDT

When I attack you NS my tank's ST drops down to -500k damage after two strikes. But I also appear to be losing 400k dex in the fight too....

QBJohnnywas June 25 2007 6:24 PM EDT

Oh stupid...melee penalty! But the drain in strength is constant definitely.

Fanta [Fanta's Forge] June 25 2007 6:25 PM EDT

Penalty for getting into melee with a sling (-80% DX).

Fanta [Fanta's Forge] June 25 2007 6:25 PM EDT

Ah, never mind you caught your mistake...

QBJohnnywas June 25 2007 6:26 PM EDT

lol, yeah, it's late!

Constant drain of my strength of 1,148,925. That takes my strength well below zero in round one so you retarget to the next minion.

AdminNightStrike June 25 2007 6:27 PM EDT

"In 5 battles vs your character, you hit me in all 5 doing from 3 to 10 damage. 1 hit each time."

Interestingly enough, whenever I attack you, I can't hit you. It must be that defender bonus thing happening.

QBJohnnywas June 25 2007 6:27 PM EDT

That constant drain amount is from two hits.

AdminNightStrike June 25 2007 6:28 PM EDT

If the drain is identical each time for you guys, could it be that someone else is draining Failure while I attack him, and ST drain is carried over between battles just like HP drain? Like, if guy A weakens him, then I fight the weakened version, I get one result. If I fight a newly healed Failure, I get a different result.

QBRanger June 25 2007 6:37 PM EDT

Strength drain and EC drain does not carry over from battle to battle.

Alchemist and I tested this out.

QBJohnnywas June 25 2007 6:41 PM EDT

How many times are you hitting him NS? Is there a difference in the amount of hits you're getting in? Because if you're hitting him for say a triple one round then a double another you'll obviously take him down further with the triple. But that thing coming into play where the exbow retargets may be coming into play, and retargetting at the point where you haven't drained as much.

This could account for differences in drain amount.

AdminNightStrike June 25 2007 6:50 PM EDT

Nope, one hit in the last round only.

AdminNightStrike June 25 2007 6:51 PM EDT

"Strength drain and EC drain does not carry over from battle to battle."

Darn. Failure's got something, then, that's making things work differently.

QBRanger June 25 2007 7:02 PM EDT

Q: Since you cannot see his post battle stats, how do you know what you drop Failure's strength to in your fights?

AdminNightStrike June 25 2007 7:06 PM EDT

He'll hit me for two-digit damage instead of 5-digit.

AdminNightStrike June 25 2007 7:08 PM EDT

Hold on a minute... Does Failure use defensive armor?

AdminNightStrike June 25 2007 7:18 PM EDT

wow.. make that 6-digit

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] June 25 2007 11:54 PM EDT

I noticed something strange with my exbow as well. Right now the drain is 53% a shot, and sometimes I can nuke Bob's strength in 3 shots (fightlog no longer shows target is weaker on fourth shot), and others it shows target is weaker on the fourth shot.

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] June 26 2007 12:00 AM EDT

NS, your exbow is X3300 after naming is it not? How come it is not draining 100% of an oppenents str?

Thats somewhat discouraging since I plan on taking mine all the way up as well :S

AdminShade June 26 2007 12:01 AM EDT

afaik, your Exbow drain was never a function of your own ST but only of the X of your Exbow.

Additionally I believe it still doesn't matter if you do 1 or a million damage to drain...

horseguy001 [Blender 2021] June 26 2007 12:08 AM EDT

Well I fought a bunch of battles with Bob and i always drain str in three rounds now, so my last point is moot.

Shade -> NS has a wiki entry that explains how your own str can have an effect on the fixed drain portion of the exbow, which comes on top of the %age drained.

AdminNightStrike June 26 2007 2:23 AM EDT

"afaik, your Exbow drain was never a function of your own ST but only of the X of your Exbow."

Try it yourself if you don't believe me.

@horse - If you read my wiki entries carefully, you'll see that it is not a simple % per x formula. Like most things in this game, it's far from linear. Not only is x3300 not 100% drain, but I'm now at x3333 + 150 for naming = x3483 and I do not see full drain on some people.
