Video games that need sequels (in Off-topic)

MudBug The Redeemer July 16 2007 4:28 PM EDT

Games that only had one incarnation that you think need another go-round. In other words don't say OMG! Mega Man 132 would so rule! these are games that only had one release.

Phantom Dust (xbox)
Mutant league football (Genesis)
Mars Matrix (Dreamcast)
Tiger Road (Arcade/TG-16)

AdminQBVerifex [Serenity In Chaos] July 16 2007 5:15 PM EDT

Basewars (NES)
Alpha Centauri (PC)
Kid Icarus (NES)
Bionic Commando (NES)
Full Throttle (PC)
Avoid The Noid (PC)
Blackthorne (PC)
Syndicate (unless you count Syndicate Wars) (PC)

QBRanger July 16 2007 5:24 PM EDT

XIII (PC)

Mem July 16 2007 5:42 PM EDT

I second Base Wars, but raise you A Boy and His Blob.

AdminJonathan July 16 2007 5:42 PM EDT

Planescape: Torment

not a "sequel" sequel but something by obsidian in the PS universe...

AdminQBVerifex [Serenity In Chaos] July 16 2007 6:26 PM EDT

Oooh, you reminded me of this other game I want a sequel to, or atleast another game made in the Spelljammer universe.

Spelljammer: Pirates of Realmspace

That was really fun, when I was 14 or 16 or something.

QBJohnnywas July 16 2007 6:58 PM EDT

Zombies Ate My Neighbours from the old Super Nintendo. Made by LucasArts and was a very very funny game featuring tribute and homage to lots of old science fiction and horror films; zombies, mummies, chainsaw wielding leatherface clones and strangely giant babies all stalked the levels trying to kill your neighbours before you could rescue them. Meanwhile you would be armed only with a water pistol or cans of fizzy drink to throw at them.

Just one of those games I really enjoyed and never forgot.

Mikel July 16 2007 7:00 PM EDT

M.U.L.E (NES)
Car Wars (Commodore 64)
Mappy (various)

I wanted to list Duck Hunt!! (NES, loved that dog), but 2 is coming out on WII.

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] July 16 2007 7:38 PM EDT

Rock 'N' Roll Racing definitely needs a sequel for a next gen console, never got bored of that game.

AdminShade July 16 2007 8:34 PM EDT

Snake Rattle 'n' Roll...

Adminedyit July 16 2007 8:53 PM EDT

Battle Toads!!!

GnuUzir July 16 2007 9:13 PM EDT

Boy and his Blob = great
Zombies Ate my Neighbors = great -- I still have it =)

My nod goes to...

Attack of the Mutant Penguins (Jaguar)

Any game where you are either a wiffle bat or a ping pong paddle and beat up penguins dressed as Businessmen, Vikings, Scotsman, etc...

Still have that one too =P

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] July 16 2007 9:25 PM EDT

Or a sequel to Hooligans would be great imo just as long as it contained much better gameplay.
The idea was great but it is way too difficult a game.

AdminNightStrike July 16 2007 9:31 PM EDT

Bionic Commando does have a sequel --

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] July 16 2007 10:42 PM EDT

Toejam and Earl

I know there are two already, but 2 and 3 are TERRIBLE, the first one was the best game for sega genesis give or take a few.

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] July 16 2007 10:43 PM EDT

And Chameleon Kid

RedWolf July 16 2007 10:56 PM EDT

Rampage
Spy Hunter
Lost Vikings
Pong :-P

and yeah, I'm aware there was a Lost Vikings II, but it wouldn't hurt to have a Lost Vikings III, could it? Definitely one of my favorite SNES games

MudBug The Redeemer July 16 2007 11:20 PM EDT

Rampage and spy hunter both had sequels.

Rampage world tour, and the inferior spyhunter 2 as well as console only spy hunter and spy hunter 2 which were nothing like their arcade namesakes.

QBsutekh137 July 16 2007 11:47 PM EDT

Vanishing Point -- Dreamcast.

Best sensation of speed I have ever experienced. And the rudimentary online capability (it just kept track of scores for face-off races) kept me coming back until the server stopped responding.

The Burnout series now gets close, but that already has sequels...

Eurynome Bartleby [Bartleby's] July 17 2007 12:15 AM EDT

Wow, someone actually suggested Blackthorne...

That game was awesome and seriously underrated, Fluid graphics, perfect atmosphere, a charismatic main character (even if only a simple sprite.) and with a good story to boot.

A side scroller with a nice storyline, how cool is that?

/me votes this for a remake/sequel.

Mem July 17 2007 12:50 AM EDT

We need a sequel to the Battletoads & Double Dragon crossover game... American Gladiators anyone? Fester's Quest? Monster Party? Marble Madness? We definitely need a Low G Man sequel! The Beetlejuice game was fun and would have a built-in audience. I could probably go on for a while, and to what effect? Toiling in the past will get you nowhere in the future.

fatty the loner July 17 2007 12:52 AM EDT

I third your base Wars (NES)
and add
Clash At Demon head (NES)
I loved Playing those games :)

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] July 17 2007 2:30 AM EDT

I second Mutant League Football...only sports game I ever actually enjoyed!

Kid Chameleon (this game was more addictive than anything...even CB)

stoner14 July 17 2007 5:01 AM EDT

they did make a sequel to alpha centauri verifex... it's called alien crossfire

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] July 17 2007 5:10 AM EDT

Speedball II!

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] July 17 2007 8:52 AM EDT

Thats it Novice! "Kid Chameleon" I had it backwards, =P

I knew it was one of the two ways, =) You not play Toejam and Earl?

QBBarzooMonkey July 17 2007 9:04 AM EDT

I guess I'll add Beyond Good and Evil to this gallimaufry of game suggestions. I love that game. :)

AdminNightStrike July 17 2007 9:19 AM EDT

B-loved [Lower My Fees] July 17 2007 10:46 AM EDT

Brutal Football for the Amiga. There were supposed to be sequels/other sports, but they never materialized.

If you haven't played this game, you have got to. It's one of the best games I've ever played. Me and a friend used to sit around all weekend playing this on an Amiga 1200.

Mythology [The Knighthood] July 17 2007 12:49 PM EDT

Startopia

AdminQBVerifex [Serenity In Chaos] July 17 2007 1:35 PM EDT

No Stoner, according to this: Alien Crossfire is just an expansion pack for Alpha Centauri, which doesn't count as a sequel!

MudBug The Redeemer July 17 2007 1:39 PM EDT

Brutal football looks a lot like Pigskin Foot brawl which was a lot like Arch Rivals except football instead of basketball. I'll have to dig out UAE and check it out. I only had an amiga 500 with the huge 1 meg ram expansion. Even then it put the pc's at the time to shame. I ran it right off the television with a vhf converter while all my pc friends were stuck in monochrome hell and the amiga had the stereo outputs in the back ;) my A-10 tank killer was so much better than the pc's counterpart. Pigskin foot brawl you tube video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxEKZZM_ueU

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] July 17 2007 3:09 PM EDT

I know of one your all thinking, but just forgot about, =P

QBPit Spawn [Abyssal Specters] July 17 2007 3:12 PM EDT
