Okay. As quite a few of you know, I'm 19 years old, and I was living up in Citrus County a few months ago. The job market up there is horrible. There is nothing to do around there.
So I moved down to Broward County (Hey Sun, kulprit, and Ranger!), to stay with my dad for (supposedly) a couple weeks to a month while I worked with a friend of his (Damian) and earned money to move out with. I figured $12 /hr under the table = great! Especially considering, I'm a 19 yr. old with no education outside of my GED...
Yet, the entire time living here, and working with Damian, I never got more than 20 hours of work in a single week... Either because he didn't have the materials necessary for a job, or it would be raining on a day we're supposed to be doing a torchdown or paint job, or because he was too hungover, and he was my ride to work (2 man opperation).
We've had many arguments over him lying, being irresponsible, or speaking where it was not his place. I hold no issues with being blamed as a problem starter when I am one, but in this case, I was just the employee doing what he was told, when he was told to do so. He's fired me once before over an argument, only to hire me back (at his request) five days later.
A job is a job, so I figured I'd put up with it until I found a new one. Then, the latest news, I'm evicted from my dad's neighborhood (55 and older community, triple my age and i coulda stayed :P). With one phone call, I was able to secure a place to stay, and a better paying, more reliable, easier job... With another, I made an appointment to get my driver's permit. And with a final, I was able to obtain a scooter.
Furthermore, with my new job (i start next week), I'll be able to spend a lot more time on CB :) So it all sums up in the better for me that I can see.
Before eviction:
Crappy boss, horrible hours, play CB less, transportation = bike or bus, still living with my dad, in a seemingly endless cycle...
After eviction:
Not sure about the boss, good hours, good pay, play CB more, transportation = scooter, living on my own.
