MgS negatives (in General)

NINAbuser and I were talking about my strat, when he mentioned to me that the Mage Shield has penalties for DX and Skills, when you have a 2-handed weapon equipped.

Wiki says this about the MgS: "Negative 5% to DX and Skills with 2-handed melee weapon." I never knew that, lol. I have an Executioner's Sword equipped on Sleek white Ferrari, my PL minion on the char Miami Vice.

With it, I have:
DX 10,880 / 8,000
PL 214,198 / 153,000

Without it, it's:
DX 11,200 / 8,000
PL 214,198 / 153,000

As you can see, DX changes but PL doesn't. Is this effect added later on in the battle or does it just display it wrong? These numbers are taken from the home-page.

I'm assuming it's a display bug. All stat changes from armour are displayed on the home page. There's no reason for MgS to not take away from skills. Have you tried it out, on a blow over your PL? Is it the same what your effect says or lower?

After some trying, I found the PL doesn't change in combat.

First round of melee against Flamey (the char), with Exec equipped:
Annihilator beat Kano-san [421300]
Sleek white Ferrari absorbs damage [214198]
Annihilator draws strength from his weapon! [126619]
Annihilator pulverized Kano-san [561617]
Sleek white Ferrari absorbs damage [214198]
Annihilator draws strength from his weapon! [188202]


First round of melee against Flamey, without the Exec:
Annihilator fractured Kano-san [403689]
Sleek white Ferrari absorbs damage [214198]
Annihilator draws strength from his weapon! [107200]

Annihilator crushed Kano-san [656046]
Sleek white Ferrari absorbs damage [214198]
Annihilator draws strength from his weapon! [275063]



I see no difference, my PL just stays the same, like the MgS doesn't have a penalty to skills at all.

I have noticed that equipping shields and melee weapons do give a penalty to dex but not to skills.

<sarcasm> Why should it give a penalty to skills? I mean, I always imagined it not as a shield that one has to hold... but a floating forcefield that absorbs magic damage.

IMO it shouldn't have any penalties, DX or skills. It should probably give bonuses instead. </sarcasm>

Ranger, all shields and all melee weapons? I don't know how the skill penalty got in the wiki, but I thought the 'bug' only worked with MgS and 2-handed weapons.

This is not mage shield specific:

IE on my minion The Grid using a MH:

No Shield:
Archery: 1,491,416
Dex: 625,252

MgS:
Archery: 1,480,913
Dex: 603,237

MS:
Archery: 1,449,404
Dex: 537,189

So I guess with a 2H weapon it does effect skills as well as dex. I was mistaken.

Sorry for the double post, but maybe it's PL-related.

Ranger's Archery dropped and got a penalty with a MgS, my PL didn't.

Oops, my mistake... some the DX penalties from using a 2 handed shield don't apply for skill penalties (or at least they never did as far as i knew)...

perhaps for the Mage Shield this is a mistake in the wiki?
