My own dream return would be Blakes Seven - old British science fiction series from the late 70s- early 80s. Featured a band of misfits travelling around in space. Also featured a fascistic federation ruling the universe. A ship with a big round glowing ball of an engine at it's rear. The crew were thieves, war heroes, smugglers and oh, a telepath/psychic. And it ended with a betrayal, a crashed space ship and several crew members dead.
Might seem a little familiar to Firefly fans......
Oh and IA mentioned Space Above And Beyond. I'd forgotten that show. There's a cliffhanger that needs addressing!
the Original Night Rider
Airwolf
original Transformers Cartoons
GI-Joe - original
Just a few that I can remember - NBC just aired a new Night Rider updated... not sure about the new one yet.
firefly :6
threshold
freaks and geeks
I'm sure I have more, but that is all for now
Wasp
February 21 2008 7:11 AM EST
I used to watch the original Sonic the Hedgehog. That was great!

Hm, Blake's 7 got kinda crazy toward the end, as I recall -- cast seemed to be changing episode to episode! But it was a fun show...
Brisco County Jr. is definitely seconded...
And I will put in a vote for Manhattan, AZ. Short-lived summer run on USA. There will never be a DVD set of it, I don't imagine, and no torrents or VHS rips that I can find anywhere... :\ Truly a "dead" show...
I would say Angel, too, but when a show ends on a high note, I like to have it be ended. Same would go for Babylon 5 and Deep Space 9...
Omg, thank you wasp for reminding me, yes, the old Sonic was great. I used to wake up at 5 AM just to watch it before school 3 hours later!
futurama i believe signed with comedy central for 3 years of new episodes...
at least according to my friend...
Yes Definitely Blake's 7 I haven't heard it in years... I miss it so much... Also some more Doctor Who! I used to watch them both all the time on a local public television station back when I was 13... Oh do I miss them!

"Salute Your Shorts
Ren and Stimpy"
Agreed, on both counts. You should add You Can't Do That on Television to the list of great Nickelodeon shows of ages past.
Angel
Carnivale
Dead Like Me
Journeyman
Rome (though this one wasn't really canceled)
Married with Children
I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of any at the time.
drudge
February 21 2008 3:18 PM EST
Barney Miller (i loved the intro song and fish)
Beavis and Butthead

I remember watching the science fiction series V late at night with my first ever black and white TV in my own room ! I loved that series at the time although I saw an old episode not too long ago and couldn't believe how bad it was when viewed nowadays!
I also loved Hill Street Blues and more recently West Wing.
Already mentioned above is Soap and Blakes 7
If we're gonna talk Blakes 7 though, what about Logans Run ? That was just fantastic and had a cool car too :)
Oh, cool car... Knightrider :)
JW, how could you forget Monkey ?
Program I miss the most (at least as far as theme tune goes) from when I was a kid..? Champion the Wonder Horse ! Makes me smile every time.
how old is G_Beee anyway?
The Tick. Not the animated one, the live action version.

February 21 2008 6:22 PM EST
I never forget Monkey. Just ask Maelstrom.
Ah, V! What was the mercenary guy? Tyler? And a rodent eating alien called Diana - that didn't strike a chord with people living in the UK at the time at all did it? The bit where the girl gave birth to a half alien half human baby....that was the talk of school for months afterwards!
And as for Logan's Run....not the tv series...the movie...with Jenny Agutter......
:D

Knightrider is back too, in a sense... Haven't watched it -- shows that defy Conservation of Momentum get crossed right off my list, unless magic or the Undead are involved.

Bobby's World.
PLEASE tell me someone remembers this show!

February 21 2008 6:55 PM EST
i hum the theme to Bobby's World from time to time as well ^_^
Bobby was a stressful little boy though, made Howie lose all his hair... Apparently Howie is just a secretary for some banker nowadays, couldn't handle kids or germs...

February 21 2008 7:11 PM EST
I can still hear Bobby's voice in my head.
I was going to say Hill Street Blues a while ago but I misread the thread to be "canceled and wEnt back on the air". Hmm, Reading IS fundamental.
School House Rock. Technically not a "show" but oh how I loved it. (I do have the DVD).
MST 3000. The original. Laughter till I passed out.
I am very much going to miss Battlestar Galactica after this season as it's supposed to be the last.
N0seBLeeD
February 21 2008 7:47 PM EST
LOL.
Howie.
Bobby and his 3 wheeled bike (i forget what they're called)
and his funny voice. ^.^
Sports Night (second on that)
Brisco County Jr. (third on that)
Beavis and Butthead
Lucky (only one season on cable)
I sort of miss Happy Days. But had it not died so harshly maybe "jumped the shark" wouldn't mean squat.
amazing stories
Haunted

Oh! Kim Possible. Best show ever. Disney needs to give me more of it.
The Tick (animated and Live action are both good as well). I have been meaning to find the original comics and stuff it came from.

The Class
It was right after 'How I met your mother'. It was hilarious, I wonder if they canceled it during the writers strike.
