Begging: Minion Hire Option... (in General)

Tezmac March 16 2008 10:10 AM EDT

Jon, I'd like to echo the request that others have previously made. Can we please have an option to hire a new minion with zero exp for relatively cheap (or free)?

QBRanger March 16 2008 10:19 AM EDT

This is something I really agree with.

Perhaps a nominal fee of 250k for 0 xp just to prevent people from hiring/rehiring for defensive purposes.

If this cannot be done, can we get an explanation of why not?

Brakke Bres [Ow man] March 16 2008 10:21 AM EDT

0 xp minion is base? 20 hp 20 str 20 dex?
Well I like it, but you reduce another great cash sink from the game.

QBRanger March 16 2008 10:44 AM EDT

Aside from the cash sink, higher MPR characters like Soxjr can then add another minion/killslot without having to go deeply in debt to do it.

And develop that character over time.

Lumpy Koala March 16 2008 10:50 AM EDT

make that 1mil for a base minion then you can still have your sink

Ulord[NK] March 16 2008 2:30 PM EDT

no. a base minion cannot be for a nominal price. an extra kill slot is very valuable and getting the exp concentration effect of running fewer minion then buying the kill slot is a very positive thing. The fee needs to be steep, at least 2x MPR. perhaps, a base minion cost can be scaled into the minion buying formula. I'm all for the option though.

QBJohnnywas March 16 2008 2:30 PM EDT

I'll second, and third and fourth and fifth and on and on and on this request.

I'm completely prepared to pay a nominal fee, but equally I'm prepared to have a base minion and build it up from scratch.

Yes please.

QBOddBird March 16 2008 2:43 PM EDT

relatively cheap sounds good.

Free sounds silly. I'd have my single minion fight and concentrate damage, then hire a minion or 3 and pop on a tattoo for defense.

QBsutekh137 March 16 2008 2:45 PM EDT

Pure meat kill slots (read: no HP, no offense, just meat) are basically an antiquated notion anyway. They make a team WORSE against SoD and explosive shot, and though they aid a bit in the first round of spreadfire hits, that is more than made up for by the fact that they provide experience dilution for the rest of the team.

I see absolutely no problem with allowing a "base" price, no experience minion purchase option.

Additionally, I still think buying minions will be a good cash sink -- because you get what you pay for. Plenty of folks will still want to spend their cash that way. Can you imagine building an empty shell from scratch up at 3 million MPR? It would take essentially forever to build anything worthwhile up (other than maybe an Evasion/AoL minion). Even then, you would probably go with the cheaper buy option to get a leg up in MPR on that new slot.

Soxjr March 16 2008 2:56 PM EDT

Personally I wouldn't take a minion spot just to get a minion spot. With 0 exp added I feel it would be a waste. I understand it would help my tank stay alive maybe longer, but with 3 mil hp and me able to add to that pretty easy I just don't see the bonus of adding a minion that can do nothing. I will be one day adding a minion, but I will be adding the highest cb option. I will have to save for it, but oh well. What else is new. lol

Mikel [Bring it] March 16 2008 3:01 PM EDT

I wouldn't use it, but I think it could at least be an option for others. Not everyone can generate the cb2 necessary to add a 42 mil cb2 minion to their team.

QBJohnnywas March 16 2008 3:02 PM EDT

I'm only at 377k MPR with a single minion. If I wanted to add three minions now at the expensive option that would cost me a total of 14 million.

Even if I wasn't in debt, I'm making between 1 and 2 million a week. Saving would take me nearly to the end of my NCB. By that time price has risen considerably. Without loans or USD or a lot of buying and selling I can never make enough to buy extra minions. A low cost base option that I could buy now and build over that time would be fantastic. I've suggested it before anyway. Consider it the 'charity' option.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] March 16 2008 3:26 PM EDT

I still think it's the price you pay for the benefit of having concentrated XP. Maybe if the minions started with negative XP, making the cost payable in XP rather than CB.

j'bob March 16 2008 3:30 PM EDT

Can it be done so that whatever the price, (ie if it's made really cheap to buy) you could not buy another AFTER FIRING ONE for a period of time. Like 4 months. So, you're a single minion, you finally buy minion #2 and like it you can buy more as soon as you like. OR, you're a single minion, you buy minion #2 (the cheap one) and don't really like it, you fire him, you can't hire anymore CHEAP help for 4 months. Make it so that only the "base" option minion has a limit? Just wondering. I don't know how difficult these things are to impliment.

Wizard'sFirstRule March 16 2008 3:44 PM EDT

sure, I will support this motion on the basis that I have nothing against this.

Lord Bob March 16 2008 7:19 PM EDT

I also support the motion.

Templar March 16 2008 7:25 PM EDT

/me votes yes

Wasp March 16 2008 7:38 PM EDT

Agreed, this needs to be done. People playing CB and not 'US'B can't really afford the 8 million minimum : /
