Ammo Bundles in Store (in Changelog)

Xenko March 17 2008 7:41 PM EDT

With the changes to defensive ammo, I am now using significantly more ammo than before (I am sure many of you have also noticed this). Whenever I go to the store, I often find myself browsing shelves full of bundles of less than 1,000 ammo. With the store buying limit, I am finding it a real pain to keep up with my ammo needs (I have 4 ranged weapons... so I eat through ammo like a fat man through a package of cupcakes).

Would it be possible to make the store only spawn ammo in bundles of at least 1,000? Or some other change to make it so I am not visiting the store every time I log on in order to buy ammo... it is a pain in the butt, and I don't see what purpose it serves, other than to waste my time...

Anyone else feel the same way? Is it just me?

Admin update: 21st Mar

NightStrike, Mar 17
The best from a user perspective would be to have bundles available in powers of 10:
100 Arrows
1000 Arrows
10000 Arrows
100 Bolts
1000 Bolts
10000 Bolts

AdminJonathan, 6:35 AM EDT
NS did make this change and I've merged it, it will be live tomorrow.

The best from a user perspective would be to have bundles available in powers of 10:
100 Arrows
1000 Arrows
10000 Arrows
100 Bolts
1000 Bolts
10000 Bolts

..etc

And I stress the 10k size. Random stack amounts contribute nothing to the game, and stack sizes that are 300 or 400 are nothing but annoying.

BootyGod March 17 2008 7:57 PM EDT

I agree. As service to another player, I buy large amounts of bolts, and I'm really annoyed when I have to buy a bundle of anything less than 1000. Or 500 -_-

6-7 rounds of ranged, ammo usage on defense, and no change in spawn rate?

I'm with Xenko. An increase would be wonderful.

j'bob March 17 2008 8:50 PM EDT

i whole heartedly agree! the only question would be how to deal with the odd bundles that are sold back quite often.

Relic March 17 2008 9:09 PM EDT

How about just a textbox with a entry number that lets me specify how many I want to buy then I get a javascript confirmation dialogue saying, "Are you sure you want to buy x arrows for y?"

miteke [Superheros] March 17 2008 9:21 PM EDT

I like that idea - spawning arrows is kind of silly.

Wizard'sFirstRule March 18 2008 12:43 AM EDT

I hate the small bundles and I have complaint before, so I won't bother repeating myself.

AdminNightStrike March 18 2008 5:56 AM EDT

Glory - I had suggested that a while ago, and the idea didn't fly. I figured the static amounts of appreciable size would compensate.

QBRanger March 18 2008 10:40 AM EDT

With the ability to have unlimited ammo, bundles of at least 1k should be the norm.

Brakke Bres [Ow man] March 18 2008 10:43 AM EDT

are we forgetting the low low nubs, the ones that just started fresh out of the tutorial, and want to buy ammo for the first time and can't afford it because the minimum stack size is 1000 and such the price is also at a minimum?
Nah, don't get a minimum in there, but allow for bigger bundles to spawn like 2500+ ones but keep the old ones too. Fair enough for everyone.

QBRanger March 18 2008 10:51 AM EDT

Henk,

That is very true, I forgot about that.

Xenko March 18 2008 12:33 PM EDT

"How about just a textbox with a entry number that lets me specify how many I want to buy then I get a javascript confirmation dialogue saying, "Are you sure you want to buy x arrows for y?""

Glory's idea would solve everything.

AdminShade March 18 2008 12:38 PM EDT

Oh just suck it up and buy the ammo whenever you can! :p

Hyrule Castle [Defy] March 18 2008 1:03 PM EDT

maybe... you could ask someone to buy ammo for you?

like say someone who doesnt have an archer character... or any active character currently...

hmmmmmm .... now where could you find one of those?

BootyGod March 18 2008 1:27 PM EDT

Pfft. Don't use the lower player excuse. A NUB could have supportership, an ELB, and a stack of arrows a mile high in their first week if they wanted it. New players have more reason to be annoyed about this than anyone.

QBOddBird March 18 2008 1:52 PM EDT

in their first week, yeah.

But during the first few days, why would they want to spend so much of their money on ammo? Most of them want to complete their ranged weapon + ammo goal.

drudge March 18 2008 2:01 PM EDT

j'bob is kind enough to send me merged arrow bundles, maybe u can find a bunch of homies to do that for u

Xenko March 18 2008 7:51 PM EDT

"maybe... you could ask someone to buy ammo for you?"

That would be even more annoying than my current situation.

AdminJonathan March 18 2008 11:06 PM EDT

I am fine with the multiple of 10s idea. Go ahead and make it so.

Xenko March 19 2008 9:54 AM EDT

Thanks Jon.

QBRanger March 19 2008 10:48 AM EDT

"I am fine with the multiple of 10s idea. Go ahead and make it so."

I would if I had access to the program. Are you going to change it Jon?

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] March 19 2008 11:02 AM EDT

Can an admin please move that post to the GIF thread for me please? >.<

On topic:

I like the idea as well, but is there still gonna be useless stacks of less than 500?

AdminNightStrike March 19 2008 2:37 PM EDT

They aren't entirely useless, and as long as there's only one, it's ok.

AdminJonathan March 21 2008 6:35 AM EDT

> I would if I had access to the program. Are you going to change it Jon?

I was replying to NS, who does have access.

NS did make this change and I've merged it, it will be live tomorrow.

Soxjr March 21 2008 6:43 AM EDT

awsome change. Thanks

AdminNightStrike March 21 2008 8:35 AM EDT

Did it work? I didn't test it....

Lumpy Koala March 21 2008 10:21 AM EDT

so will we see 10000 explosive shots at the stores? :)

AdminG Beee March 22 2008 5:35 AM EDT

I'm guessing it hasn't worked.

I can't access the weapons store :/ All other "business" links appear to be working ok.

Xiaz on Hiatus March 22 2008 5:54 AM EDT

I can access the weapon's page, and let me say that is _a lot_ of ammo.

forktoad March 22 2008 5:58 AM EDT

I have the same problem as GBee does. Can't open the weapons page. Is it a bug or my system is broken????

BluBBen March 22 2008 7:06 AM EDT

I think it's just broken right now and that Jon are working on it.

AdminJonathan March 22 2008 7:20 AM EDT

fixed

Obscurans March 22 2008 7:23 AM EDT

Oo exshot in the shops...

QBRanger March 22 2008 7:25 AM EDT

Excellent change!

bartjan March 22 2008 7:42 AM EDT

Iron shots are cheaper if you buy them in bundles of 100 ;)

Last Gasp March 22 2008 3:06 PM EDT

Wonderful change!

iBananco [Blue Army] March 22 2008 3:13 PM EDT

I think I speak for a large portion of us when I say fewer bundles of 100 please.

AbbathorX March 26 2008 7:53 PM EDT

This is good. But it does not appear to be spawning any new bundles. It's been out of bolts for days now. . .

Bolts are good.

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] March 26 2008 7:57 PM EDT

Are you kidding me? There's plenty of Bolts right now...

TheHatchetman March 26 2008 7:57 PM EDT

sometimes ya gotta just buck up and settle with the stacks of 100, i bought a bunch of em now though, so there should be plenty of bolts in the store ^_^

SuperHD March 26 2008 8:00 PM EDT

indeed hatchet 3 bunble of 10k bolts appear but no match for the 72k iron shot nice try...

SuperHD March 26 2008 8:03 PM EDT

you are right prissypeach fewer bundle of 100 please

AbbathorX March 26 2008 8:10 PM EDT

Hmmm. . .I suppose if one didn't know to just buy all the leftovers to force a spawn that would have seemed like a problem.

Thanks Hatch ;p

SuperHD March 26 2008 8:20 PM EDT

you said ''suppose if one didn't know to just buy all the leftovers to force a spawn that would have seemed like a problem.''

do you go buy left over?? I dont
just log in a little more often and a little more longer and you'll get those 10 k bundle... and AbbathorX,, whats so bad about buying leftover anyway...cber are suppose to transform themself into vulture now ?

IndependenZ March 28 2008 7:34 AM EDT

superhotdog, what's the point of us logging in more frequently just to check the weapon store for ammo which should be readily available? It doesn't serve any purpose to keep the amount of ammo (or bolts in specific) low. We're still paying for them.

About the bolts, again... it's getting a bit annoying to see so many arrows and shots in the store, but only two or three sets of 1000 bolts and an additional ten sets of 100 bolts. Just like before the change, I need to buy bolts every time I burn over 100 BA.

Could this be changed that the bolt-users can get the same amount of bolts in one go, like other ammo?

Don't Panic [TheGoodNamesAreGone] March 28 2008 7:39 AM EDT

IndependenZ

I must be missing something, the last four or five times I've logged in, I've checked the store each time. The least amount of bolts I've seen available in the store was about 90,000, all in bundles of 10k or 5k.

Tezmac March 28 2008 7:41 AM EDT

There's 6 10k and 4 5k bundles right now.

SuperHD March 28 2008 7:50 AM EDT

independenz hmm i dont know, i just felt one could wait to see those 10k bundle appear as other are buying at the store, anyway i am buying the 100 bundle now and 10k bundle spawn once in a while
just look at my Arrows stack...think it will be enough for my ''away'' period?

IndependenZ March 28 2008 9:28 AM EDT

Well I don't know, maybe it's just my luck then, but even now there are only sets of 100 bolts for sale. I have been able to buy only two sets of 5000 bolts since the day this change came out, so it's either my unluckiness or there aren't enough bolts around. :|

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] March 28 2008 9:53 AM EDT

Bolts are on the top of the store list right now sitting at:

Okay, I'm convinced. I just found 15k bolts. So I guess you guys are right, heh.

Nothing to see here, please move along. :P

Flatcap [East Milwaukee Devival] April 1 2008 4:18 AM EDT

you can spawn larger stacks by purchasing the smaller stacks, if there arent any 10k stacks buy 5 of the 100 stacks
