This entire thread is me whining. If you do not want to hear/read it, I would advise hitting the back button on your browser. There is nothing I hope to accomplish by this thread, other than to vent. No, I have never been good at keeping journals.
I woke up at 4:30 this morning, so that I could be at the day labor place between 5:30 and 6... I go there, sign in, wait, and watch a few dozen people get sent off to different jobs before I'm sent home after wasting almost 2 and a half hours for the fourth time...
Apparently while leaving, I was discourteous enough not to hold the door open for everyone leaving behind me, and the dude behind me got hit by the closing door that he couldn't expell the energy to grab for himself. He decides what I did was rude, says "Thanks a lot", before giving me a dirty look. I was in no mood to tolerate this, an argument ensues, but I can feel he doesn't exactly want to fight me, but he apparently had no problem standing there trash-talking all day. My tone of voice goes up, and another guy (unrelated to the entire incodent, he didn't know either of us...) decides he needs to play hero and walks up behind me, and puts his hand on my shoulder and says "Come on now, we don't want any violence out here." So I turn around and tell him "Only [person] stands a chance of getting hit here is you if you touch me again." Now the dude I was originally argument really starts talkin' too much. Then I'm about to say something, the other guy puts his hand back on my shoulder and says "Hey now! I" and that's as far as he got before I turned around and planted the palm of my hand into his gut... He takes four steps back before falling to his knees, and I turn back to the original dude, and argue a couple more minutes before I tell him he can [go fly a kite], and walk off.
I get home, and start doing some more callbacks, so I can follow up with the managers at some of the other places I applied, and I only managed to get a hold of one manager who "meant to call me the other day to let me know they had filled the position"... I also managed to get ahold of an assistant manager who told me to call back Thursday when the hiring manager would be there...
So I work on getting a buncha crap done around the house... Fixed a few shelves, cleaned up, and cooked dinner, nothing special to this paragraph, but it just keeps things chronologically sound...
After dinner I do the dishes. When I finish that up, I see that Trudy (my mother's boyfriend's 94 year old mother) is sitting on the couch in the living room, and my mother and her boyfriend are in their room watching TV. I see hockey on the living room television and I know she is not a hockey fan, so I offer to put something on for her (she can't figure out the remote control, and the channel lineup with DirectTV is difficult for even myself to grasp). She accepts, and I know 282 is the way to go... Animal Planet ftw! She loves watching the animals (except the rescue shows cuz she doesn't like seeing them hurt or sickly-looking), so I always put animal planet on. It was some petfinder show where they get a pet for some kid or family or whatever... I ask her if she'd like to watch it, and she looks up at me and says "no coloreds please" I threw the remote control on the couch that she wasn't sitting on, and started walking to my room. On the way, I yelled "Ma! TV needs attention in the living room." (yelling *to*, not *at*...)
Only four ways to piss me off... Blatant disrespect towards me, putting your hands on me in an unwelcome fashion, stealing from me, and profound ignorance. I've gotten to deal with three of those today. Good thing I don't have a car I guess, or I'd likely be hearing that pull away about now too...
