Mystery Auction (in Contests)

In honor of my upcoming wedding, i've decided to pass on the usual contest and do something a little different. Therefore, i'll be holding a mystery auction! And as anyone that is married knows, it has it's ups and downs, and sometimes a curve ball!

The following auctions will be the items that are being bid on:

1 base Katana
1 base Elven Stiletto
1 base Dagger
1 base Helm's Gauntlets

and lastly........

the actual money that is being bid! that's right, the final item up for bid is the total sum of all bids (minus transfer fees) as well as 500k that i'm starting it off at!

Rules you ask? Here they are:

1. all bidding shall start at 10k
2. all bids shall be in increments of 10k
3. post your bid as well as the number of the lot you are bidding on (ie. bid 50k on lot 5, bid 60k on lot 1 etc)
4. once you make a bid, it is not able to be taken back.
5. bidding ends at 12:00cst on the 8th of September.


Since the CB community has been good to me, I also figure i'll be nice, and also include 100k with each of the items being auctioned off, so even if you get the booby prize, you'll have a little something something for being a good sport.

OB, I think the lots are random.

There are 5 lots random, labeled 1-5. Each of them contains a prize, one of the four items or the bundle of cash.

I just realised, does that lot actually include the money bid on the lot itself? say there is 100k bid on each of the lots. Does the winner get 500k + 400k (900k) or 500k + 400k + 100k (1m)?

As a suggestion - I think you should only be able to bid on one lot at a time. Otherwise someone will bid a large amount on each of the lots, win all of them, and get all their money back plus the items :)

then if someone just bid on one, you could have problem.

e.g. (not actual bids)
person A bids 2m on each lot.
then person B bids 3m on lot 1.
if person A passes, then he might not get the money. or he bids 3.1m.
then person B bids 3m on lot 2.
person A is in the same dilemma.
When each lot has a 3.1m bid on it, it would worth more to person B.
person B then bids 4m on a lot.
you need 5x the money of the next riches to control all 5 lots, its just not fun/worth it.

Some clarification since there seems to be some confusion:

1. A person may bid on 1, multiple, or all lots.
2. Highest bid is the only one that pays, all lower bids are ignored.
3. There are a total of 5 lots, each lot has 1 item, or the cash.
4. The cash prize is the total sum of what i've put in, what people donate, and the TOTAL sum of all the bids. (if each lot sells for 1 mil, then the pot would be 5.5 mil for that lot to whomever wins it) minus the transfer fees for the items, and the cash.

And I do understand that someone "could" bid a large amt on all the lots at once, however I do realize after 2 years here, that more than likely, someone else is gonna over-bid them on 1 or more lots, just to keep that from happening, and to just make a dig at them ;)
