Down from 4 AM until 9 AM server time... at least that's how large the hole in my combat log is.

Hey luck is on my side, because last night when i woke up to go to the bathroom i almost open the computer to maximize my ba (yeah CB IS addictive) but finally went back to bed..

This morning i went to cbstuff.nl, and this time i was able to register, but it says i had to wait for an administrator to confirm my registration, so i was unable to post about CB down time.. But i am getting closer :)
Next time it happen i am pretty positive i will be able to post in cbstuff.nl.... yeah :)
ok i tried to open chat and it made Mozilla crash... first time it happen, i guess i'll leave chat close for sometime.

(non-related to present topic advice: don't rent the movie Transsiberian...i 'll go get a refund at the video store since i did not like the movie.) its pretty cool that videoclub refund you if you did not like the rented movie :)

i would definantly like to c at least 400 ba given to everyone to compensate for the last 3 times carnage has been fun this time i missed out on over 160 ba closer to 200 and it is extremely frustrating. To avoid affecting clan scores give the ba to us on sunday hey jon but we should get compensated.

Maybe this would be a good time to mention that this is a FREE game where you only pay if you want to and paying doesn't generally influence to an overly great extent.

You can't demand to get compensation for a game designed as hobby for John, for the moment jut be glad that CB is up again and usable.

IAA, I understand you missed BA, but we all did, I think its fair either way, free BA or not. If he does give out free BA, people who logged out 2 minutes before Jon hands out the free BA will miss out on their next 7 hours of BA because Jon gave them 200 BA 2 minutes after they left, so they wont get a single BA refresh all because they did not know free BA was on the way. So your fairness might not be fair to everyone whereas everyone DID miss cache flush downtime BA.

yeah...and i've had enough with these downtimes.
Time to quit again for a while...how adictive this game might be, not being able to log in 2 times in as many days totally kills it.

I realize that this isn't the purpose of this thread, but I just wanted to say quickly that that's an interesting thing to do. You rent movies so you can watch them without having to buy them. Why should you get a refund just because you do not like the movie? That's not the movie rental places' fault. *shakes her head* Seems incredibly cheap to me.

And now back to the topic, I am glad that chat is back up ^_^ And I don't need the free BA :)

The "i 'll go get a refund at the video store since i did not like the movie." analogy doesn't fit this very well....something more like ""i 'll go get a refund at the video store since the movie kept skipping/stopping." fits a little better.

I've taken this thread into consideration, and have decided to refund everyone.

All users will be receiving deposits into the paypal account associated with their login email addresses for the cost that you pay for logging in to CB and playing.

The video rental analogy fits, and I believe you should get refunded just as you would when you pay for a rental, and the video skips around or is broken. The video store is kind enough to give you a full refund, so we will, too.

Nov: What's funny is that if you search the archives, you'll find a post from me that is similar. I was running my NCB (my current character, actually), and was hit with a long flurry of outages. This was during the time between the purchase of the new server and the switch to the new host. The previous host, if you recall, left us with constant outages.

An outage on a bonus-laden account is very painful, and the loss of one day was the equivalent (at the time) of 7 days for a Jan 1 2005 character.

Someone explained to me, however, that that helps to account for the losses that the Jan 1 chars experienced over the life of CB. And frankly, the logic makes sense. In fact, it makes it so that as CB gets more stable (and really, it's been *incredibly* stable compared to earlier years in terms of uptime), the outages during an NCB run are less frequent, and more offset from what a Jan 1 2005 char experienced.

That logic is not entirely true as the N*B is designed to get you to 95% of where characters are NOW, not where they would have been without any outages in the past.

If Jon can make the N*B based upon where the top character would be, then allowing for down times during the N*B run would be adequate.

And who knows, this may be the beginning of a long streak of daily down times.

I'd consider the 1600 BA head start some people use with NCB's to probably make up for those downtimes.

Though it involves a TON of money to do so, the ability to transfer an NCB from one person to another gives it an enormous potential advantage over the NUB growthwise...so yeah, I think we could excuse a few outages with that kind of potential ;)
