"It doesn't matter if it is good... (in Contests)

It only matters if it ROCKS!"
Noticed that out of over 300 songs on my WMP, I had only two by bands with female leads ("Haunted" by Evanescence, and "All Around Me" by Flyleaf)... So I figured it was time for some affirmative action. I already went and put a bunch more evanescence and flyleaf on my computer... But now, I'm turning to you guys to bring some balance to my playlists! :o
I'm paying 10k for each song that is suggested in this thread by female artists/bands (excluding Flyleaf and Evanescence), that I find to my liking enough to put onto my WMP.
Hints: I don't like techno...
I don't like Country...
I don't like pop...
I'm not looking for "chick music", but more of music by chicks that is able to transcend demographics.
I do like rap, but I don't feel that chicks have the voice for it (I mean seriously... hate to sound sexist, but seriously... Is anybody able to listen to a female rapper without giggling at the "hamster on helium" sound of their voice when trying to use the same air for 12 consecutive lines?)
Basically, this contest is in search of chicks that *rock* (which is why I used the opening line of a song from a band of dudes as a contest header)... Though, if you have what you believe to be a far superior example of the above that I do not like that would be capable of appealing to those turned off by the genre of their music, feel free to post it! After all, I have my preferences, but I'm not closed-minded! ^_^

Don't know if you'll like her, but I've really gotten into Imogen Heap, and I'm usually not into that genre of music (I listen to mostly metal).
Lacuna Coil's a good band. I have a friend who likes to rave about them on Facebook. I've personally only listened to one song, "Closer", but I like it. :)

Go check out Patti Smith; albums to listen to are Horses, Radio Ethiopia, Easter and Wave. Albums after that are good, but a lot less rocking. Individual songs; Gloria, Land, 25th Floor, Because The Night.
The Pretenders are a bit lighter, but with some great songs. Brass In Pocket, Kid, Back On The Chain Gang, Middle Of The Road.
First two albums by Garbage, Garbage and Version 2.0 are great, huge huge sound, great songs. One of the members of the band Butch Vig produced Nirvana's Nevermind album. Key songs: Happy When It Rains, Vow, Stupid Girl, Temptation Waits, Push It.
Juliette And The Licks - Coming Around, Got Love To Kill
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs - the whole first album Fever To Kill.
If you like any of these songs btw, you'll like the rest of their stuff.

Also, The Dollyrots are fantastic, kind of a punky sound that I've really gotten into.
Are we allowed to post song names that are Un-PG?
Black Bullet by Kidney Thieves
Misery Business by Paramore (questionable, but hey, worth a shot)
And I have a few more if I can post them.

Un PG song names are a no-no (CM me those). Songs with Un PG lyrics are fine to post, so long as you don't link to them.
Door #1
Door #2
Door #3
Two doors take you to songs that aren't exactly rock, and one door takes you to a Wendy O Williams music video. Have fun.
Garbage, Hole and The Donnas (yes, that last one is a 'guilty pleasure') are great bands with female leads imo.
Other bands which you can check out are Wicked Wisdom (not my cuppa but maybe yours) and if you like Evanescence you may as well go for Nightwish while you;re at it.

Within Temptation has already been mentioned, but they're great.
Give 'Stand My Ground' a listen and go from there :P
As for your comment about Female rappers, I can listen to Natalie Portman rapping without gig... okay, I was giggling, but for COMPLETELY different reasons. Look it up on youtube. Find it uncensored for preference. Completely NSFW XD
Hard to believe Kittie wasn't mentioned within the first hour....
Here's two I dislike personally:
Silversun Pickups - Lazy eye
Shiny Toy Guns - Ghost Town
See if this is worth 10k.

I've become a fan of pretty much everything P!nk has put out.
I'm not sure about all their music yet, but I'm hooked on "Untouched" by the Veronicas.
As far as rocking songs, White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane (Grace Slick singing) should be on any MP3 player.
I love Joan Jett and the album Fit to Be Tied is a GREAT sampling of how raw and rocking she can sound.
Janis Joplin. !Mercedes Benz! (IMHO goddess of rock)
I love all of Liz Phair's early stuff (Exile in Guyville)... and though she went kinda poppy, her later stuff isn't exactly trash.
As far as female rappers... well, I kinda like Missy Elliot but I do understand your aversion.
Maybe more when I have a minute to look into my iTunes folder. :)

Dragonette - "I Get Around", "Take it like a Man"
Republica - "Ready to Go", "Drop Dead Gorgeous"
Garbage, (as a plus the lead singer is a terminatrix in Sarah Connor Chronicles)

"Waaaah, I'm a spellcheck, I don't think you spelled people's names correctly because I'm stupid." Really, Aretha isn't in the spellcheck dictionary? She's, like, pretty famous.
oops, thought i replied to this yesterday. I'm closing this to new submissions now at least until I've gone over the rest of the suggestions (didn't get around to them yesterday as planned). Though I'll most likely have enough new stuff after that, so it's likely closed for good.
Gonna be sending DrAcO another 50k cuz of how hard "In This Moment" jams (at least their newer stuff... not a fan of their older "screamer band" style... Screaming is okay in moderation (like Linkin Park and Flyleaf in some songs), but if it sounds like a rotweilder got into the recording studio and attacked the microphone, it's not my style :P). I'll likely be reviewing most (if not all) the other suggestions tonight and sending out more prizes (where applicable).
Tarja Turenen, Nightwish, Within Temptation and Epica. Can't beat that.
as a compromise, i'll count tarja but not the others!!! (Mostly because the others have already been suggested :P)
Well, Tarja is actually the old lead singer of Nightwish... ;P
Lacuna Coil is also very good. :)
noticed LC was hit and miss :P checked out 5 of their songs (i think), only found two worth getting :P
Bjork was not mentioned, Esthero, Madonna....so many other useless names to mention but would be a waste of breathe
Paramore has a female lead singer. Most of their songs I enjoy listening to, but Im not a huge huge fan.
Seether feat. Amy Lee "Broken"
Korn feat. Amy Lee "Freak on a Leash"
hehe... Korn = awesome... Amy Lee = Awesome... Freak on a Leash = Awesome... Korn feat. Amy Lee "Freak on a Leash" = proof that too much of a good thing can be a bad thing ^_^ Though I do very much enjoy Evanescence's remake of Korn's "Thoughtless"

Might've just gotten picky, but wasn't able to find anything worth adding onto any of my playlists :P Don't feel bad if you didn't get a song on my list, you still made 10k just for participating ^_^ IA and Zoglog even won an additional 10k in the "Hatchy forgot he already sent you money" lottery :D
Brings total prizes up to 620k! Great job in helping me to diversify my playlists :P

Oh, and though it might pain you to associate yourself with Courtney Love, Hole's Live Through This album was excellent. Way better than Celebrity Skin.
Not exactly vibing with it (though I will definitely admit it was better than Celebrity Skin!), but I did my best to discard any objections to artists based on who they are and judge solely on a song-by-song basis ^_^ Proof of this is that an Avril Lavigne song made it in... Many people will rave about Flyleaf's "All Around Me", but claim not to like Avril's "Losing Grip" while not even realizing they have soooo many similar qualities (Both songs feature soft rock-ish music and soft slow verses, harder choruses, soft break in the finale. Both display excellent vocal range from singers with *great* singing voices...)
On another note, this thread couldn't have had any more perfect timing! In This Moment is by far my favorite band/artist from this thread (To say the band jams would be an understatement, and her vocal range is like nothing I've heard before! I'd definitely advise checking out songs like "Lost At Sea", "Forever" and "Her Kiss" to name a few!), so I took a few minutes to google tour information, and what do I find about a week away?
SCHWEET! Yeah, I'm totally going to be there! ^_^
Mudvayne, In This Moment, and NonPoint are coming to my town in a one night show!
Same tour, most likely a different show though. Unless you live a lot closer to me than i thought :P
oops... Wrong link :P
SCHWEET! (take 2)
Noticed that everyone including me forgot to mention Rolo Tomassi. I don't know them well enough to name particular songs but have never been let down by their music
