Which game are you fondest of? (in Off-topic)

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] March 19 2009 4:54 PM EDT

Just wondering what games you guys are nostalgic of. ;)
Personally, I can't name the hundreds of hours that me and my friend spent on playing tournaments on Quake 3.

Me and the same friend also used to play the Descent-clone Forsaken constantly, until we moved on to Q3A. ;)

LoRD was also super fun.

Lord Bob March 19 2009 4:57 PM EDT

Final Fantasy 6.
Starcraft.
Warcraft 2 and 3.
Mortal Kombats 2 and 3.

Sickone March 19 2009 7:08 PM EDT

Master of Orion II : Battle at Antares.

We had a rather large group of enthusiasts in our old "school" days, spending evenings and weekends on end playing hotseat games, holding tournaments and such.
It's a game so awesome no game to this day has really been able to compare with the experience.
And yes, I still play it occasionally... many of the old gang still do, especially when we're getting back together for a drink or somesuch.

QBOddBird March 19 2009 7:11 PM EDT

No mentions of Jazz Jackrabbit/sequels?? Really?

That was a super fun game.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] March 19 2009 7:15 PM EDT

Any of the Halo series. Play Halo 3 now. I go to tournaments and can just play all weekend without getting up once it seems like.

kevlar March 19 2009 7:18 PM EDT

Master of Orion II was/is definately awesome. XCom Terror from the deep as well.

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] March 19 2009 7:33 PM EDT

Final Fantasy 8 is the only console game I can ever remember enjoying.

Rome: Total War was just fun all over.

Diablo 2 was awesome.

Darkfall is the best MMORPG I've ever played.

deifeln March 19 2009 7:41 PM EDT

FF7 >>>>> FF8

Lord Bob March 19 2009 7:43 PM EDT

Or Chrono Trigger?

FF VII and VIII, Gran Turismo 2, the original Medal Of Honor, and WWF Attitude all for the old Playstation.

The entire Battlefield series, Diablo 2, and Civilization II for PC

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] March 19 2009 8:02 PM EDT

final fantasy tactics Ps version. xD

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] March 19 2009 8:12 PM EDT

Donkey Kong: Country, for me too. ;)

AbbathorX March 19 2009 8:16 PM EDT

Master of Orion was just so much more fun than the sequel, 2 had WAY too much micromanaging. I still play the original despite the increasingly dated graphics and the terrible personalities of the AIs. I will say that at least 2 had more realistic NPC rulers who would actually respond to bribes and/or overwhelming military defeats.

Star Control II is the best game ever. Engaging plot, fantastic dialog, even a multiplayer space combat bit. Sadly it's going on 20 years old by now. It does have a fan supported version called 'The Urquan Masters' that will run on your fancy new modern computational devices though. Check it out, for it is the awesome.

Lord Bob March 19 2009 8:19 PM EDT

Any of the Dragon Quest/Warrior games.

[SIBT]Gardiner Amarth March 19 2009 8:20 PM EDT

Sickone March 19 2009 11:49 PM EDT

"Master of Orion was just so much more fun than the sequel, 2 had WAY too much micromanaging."

Yeah, but the sequel had something else that made it awesome : multiplayer :)
Hotseat sessions lasting 30 hours, yummy (and ouch, tired).

Daz March 20 2009 12:00 AM EDT

I'd say Wolfenstein, but I still play it regularly, so it's not really a nostalgia thing any more :P

Same for Sonic. In fact, I was just playing that a few minutes ago, when I didn't even know this thread existed!

Daz March 20 2009 12:01 AM EDT

Forgot to mention: Duke Nukem. Great game (or so my memory says)

LoRD was awesome. ;)

QBOddBird March 20 2009 9:22 AM EDT

Twisted Metal!

Daz March 20 2009 9:39 AM EDT

I completed it only recently, but Aquaria is a brilliant, beautiful and amazing game that is easily in my top 3 games. Seriously, give the demo a shot at the very least. It's similar to Metroid/Castlevania, but its underwater and much more artsy.

Tombi/Tomba is also up there pretty high. I love that game and completed it a good number of times. So many times, in fact, that I had it down to an art. I could probably it down right now and finish it in an hour or two, when my first play was up at 20+ hours :P

Neo Japan March 20 2009 10:22 AM EDT

Secret of Mana

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] March 20 2009 12:08 PM EDT
