Before 9 AM server time tomorrow morning:
Hackers, choose wisely, CM me with your choices.
Mod, take your pick of any of the 20 players (asking me in CM, not this thread), and I will reveal their identity to you in CM.
Norton, take your pick and send me a CM containing the name of either a player in the list or yourself and that person will be safe from a good Hacking.

Roles

Hacker - 3 members.
Mod - 1 member.
Norton - 1 member.
Users - The rest of the players.

Night

The Hackers have a chance to hack one of the Users by CMing me who they agreed upon, they will know who the other Hacker is. If there are more than 10 Users, each Hacker can hack one person per night. Once it drops below 10 Users (Mod and Norton included), the Hackers must agree on one User to hack.

Mod may CM me asking the identity of 1 person.

Norton has the ability to save one person (Also by CMing me), but can only save themselves once. Your identity will not be revealed either way.

Day

I will announce the Hacker's victim, revealing their identity unless they were saved by Norton. If the person is not saved by Norton, the player is "fried" and may no longer participate in the game in any way.

During the daytime phase, the players deliberate over which suspected Hacker they wish to ban, even each Hacker. The Users want to ban a Hacker but all players are allowed to vote. Each player must vote, can only vote once and cannot vote for themselves.

The Mod may announce they are the Mod, but nobody has to believe them. They can tell everyone who they asked about through the night and what the identity of the person in question was. Again, since no one knows if this person really is the Mod, the Users still have a hard choice to make, and may give the Hackers a sure-fire kill the next night. It may even be a Hacker claiming to be a Mod.

By 8 PM server time, I hope everyone comes to a conclusion and puts in their vote (Whenever I log in and view the thread/votes will be the end of voting). Not everyone has to agree on 1 person, I will take the majority vote as the person everyone wants banned.

If a Hacker is banned, there is still a Hacker alive to hack people during the night, so it's not game over yet for them.

- No Ban is a viable option, if majority wins with "No Ban" then nobody will be banned during the day. But beware, this will increase the Hacker's chance to win as they will hack a User/Mod/Norton the following night.

Phase Duration

I am hoping the Hackers, the Mod and Norton will all be able to CM me from 8 PM - 9 AM server time giving me their replies, with only the Mod needing a reply back from me.

After I reveal the Victim of the Hackers, everyone can deliberate on who they want to ban.

Win condition

The game ends either when the last Hacker is killed (User victory) or the Hackers outnumber or equal the Users during the day (Hacker victory). The Users have no way of voting off Hackers at this point, but the Hackers can still kill each night.

Winners will split the pot equally. Either each Hacker (even if one was "banned"), or each User/Mod/Norton left unhacked.

I'm usually good at Mafia. And I suspect OB for trying to alienate other players to cast suspicion off of himself.

rrowland, as long as you don't bold that vote until you've had a chance to hear the chatter here, I will presume that you're just being naive, which signals to me that you're not a Hacker.

To me, Ranger was a natural target for any experienced Mafia player. You naturally want to take out any User who's likely to stimulate discussion. For this reason, I don't think that I will survive this round, nor OB, if he's a User.

I don't know about the other two targets.

Wanting to do it the old fashioned way, the Users wanted to put the supposed Hacker up to be hanged. They finished roping off Warlord Shadowshade, but as Vanilla Rice kicked the barrel to drop Shadow, his foot got stuck and dragged him off the platform and into a vat of pig excrement. Turns out, that is even more difficult to get out of than quicksand. All tries at helping him was worthless. Sad, really, because Vanilla was Norton. And since they didn't want two death on their hands, they untied Shadowshade and let him go free.

Hackers are now free to commence and get back to me through the night, Mod as well, if(?) you're out there, did the three Hacked Users give out their identities?

Hackers will take 3 more victims tonight. This will be the last night they do, every night hereafter they will have to agree on one victim.

:) The irony is I 'Saved' Slayer the first round because I figured he would be a first round target. ZzZz gg

Well, I'd like to keep it Night phase and Day Phase during the nights and days of CB, I mean, you all CAN discuss through the night as the Hackers contemplate their victims. It's just once the victims are known, they cannot discuss towards the lynching of the hackers any more.

The night was a quiet one. Boring, actually. The users had no idea what to expect.

Mitt was really hungry, so he decided to make a tuna on toast sandwich. He went downstairs and plugged in the toaster. He walked away to use the bathroom.

Draco came into the kitchen as well, and saw the toaster.

"NO!" Draco cried and karate chopped it. He burned his hand and ran it under the sink.

"What are you doing?" Mitt asked as his toast popped up.

"That thing is evil! I'm telling you, you have no idea." Draco replied.

Just then, the toaster sprung off of the counter and smacked Mitt in the head, leaving burn lines that burned all of the way into his brain.

Draco gulped as the toaster backed him into the corner. "CMON GUYS! ENOUGH!" He yelled to the hackers.

Those were his last words.

The Users, wanting to kill the hacker, but not make it obvious made a bet with rrowland. Wearing only swim trunks and sneakers, rrowland raced his motorcycle toward the a drawbridge. As the bridge began to open, it was clear that he intended to "shoot the gap", without even taking a look at the opening. Bridge designers had anticipated such lunacy and invented the crossing guard. The closing gates swept him off his Suzuki, over the side of the bridge, and into the water. By a twist of fate the motorcycle continued up the ramp and made it across to the other side. The Users Laughed hysterically chanting "Row Row Row your boat to HELL!", until they realized they, yet again, lost one of their own as they heard the laughter of the Hackers in the distance.

I suspect Tal. Why? Well, the only thing that he's posted is a vote so far, and only after I called him out for lurking. To me, that's not really unlurking.

Titan was ready to get under his demolition car to fix it up for his next derby. The purpose of a demolition derby is to smash into other cars. Crash, repair, repeat. As a result, in competition, derby cars become more fragile than the average car. So you would think that Titan would take this fact into account when he crawled under his car for repairs. "Why take the time to put a car up on blocks?" He must have thought it would be faster and easier to use a handy Bobcat-type skid loader, and just lift the car up from its bumper.
When the car was raised, Titan slid beneath. You'd think what happened next had to do with the bumper breaking, but no, the lift on the loader had been compromised sometime through the night. The loader lift then fell right onto Titan. Help was immediately summoned, but it was too late. Titan had lost his final demolition derby.

PK, it doesn't help (us!) to NOT post a defense. Your not doing anything didn't help to provoke a response, and Mafia is ALL about provoking responses.

I see no problem with targeting Gun this coming round. I trust Mistgun's instincts in this, except that I believe that Slayer is just a user.

Here is my parting words in this Mafia round (don't want to interfere too much with game play): Win it for the User, and think of the Norton that we lynched.

Story for Mistgun:

Mistgun had always been a daredevil. He wanted to top it all off and make money that will last him for the rest of his life. The Users tried talking him out of it, but the Hackers knew what would happen. But nobody's word would deter him from doing the impossible. Mistgun was going to ride a wodden barrel off the side of Niagra Falls. Now, before you go asking why, two people had done this before and SURVIVED. Mistgun believed that if he strapped his arms to the side of the barrel and his feet to a large anvil for stability, he would pop up out of the foam at the bottom of the fall, safe, and right side up. He knew what he was doing and he was going to do it.

He launched his ungainly craft early one morning, and floated minutes through the rapids toward the drop. 45 minutes after launch, the heavy barrel flew over the brink of the falls. So far, so good. But when Mistgun hit the water below, the anvil plunged through the bottom of the barrel, carrying most of Mistgun to the bottom with it. The barrel became stuck behind the falls. It wasn't until much later that the barrel's battered remains floated out into the mist. Attached was Mistgun's right arm, still strapped down, with his tattoo visible resembling something like:

Gun always had a hobby outside of hacking into people's computers and kitchen appliances. Gun had been raising a healthy marijuana plant in his back yard for years. But then tragedy struck. He received a phone call from the authorities, saying he was busted but they would not press charges if he brought the bush into the station. Roots and all. So he sadly tore his 8-foot tree down and carried it into the lobby of the Sheriff's office, where startled officers took him into custody for suspected felony cultivation. Turns out the phone call was a prank. But it's not like Gun was going to be seeing the light of day again, this was his third strike. And being a computer hacker/geek, others in the prison did not worship him, quite the contrary actually, so he decided he must escape. A year later, story broke that Gun hacked into the prison security system and made it so his doors would open at 10 PM sharp. 10 PM rolls around and Gun gets ready to head out the doors, but as he starts to walk out, the doors slam back into position, but not all the way due to Gun's body being in the way. For the rest of the night, all the inmates heard was the sound of what they described as "an elevator door opening and closing repeatedly."

And I'm sure you all know, but this is just a game! Don't take it too seriously. This game is all about deception, there's gonna be disagreements. Thank you, and Good Luck to everyone and the 2 remaining Hackers.

Yay user! Our first hacker gone! Let's see who they hack this time. I suggest we go after the lurkers who STILL haven't posted: TheLiege, Blazewind. And Tal, I've still got my eye on you.

I'm looking at Slayer, TheLiege, and Blazewind. Tal has voted, but TheLiege and Blazewind are complete lurkers.

Scratch that, Blazewind hasn't been on in a couple of days. That leaves Slayer and TheLiege.

I personally think that Blazewind is a hacker, which is why we've had a couple of posts from smallpau1 saying that he was still waiting for a hacker. However, if he's not active, then he's not a problem for the town and can be voted out later.

The Grand Canyon is cordoned off by a fence around the more treacherous overlooks, to prevent unsteady sightseers from tottering into the depths. Some of these overlooks have small towering plateaus a short distance from the fence. Tourists toss coins onto the plateaus, like dry wishing wells. Quite a few coins pile up on the surfaces, while others fall to the valley floor far below. OB decided to climbed over the fence with a bag, and leapt to one of the precarious, coin-covered perches. He filled the bag with booty, then tried to leap back to the fence with the coins. But the heavy bag arrested his jump, and several tourist were treated to a view of his plunge to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. He did not survive to harvest the piles of coins that had suffered his same fate.

The feet of Slayer and Blazewind, were found protruding from a huge, deflated helium advertising balloon. Apparently their education had glossed over the importance of breathing oxygen.

A family member said, "Blazewind was mischievous, to be honest." The pair pulled down the 8' balloon, and climbed inside for a breath of helium goodness. Their last words consisted of high-pitched, incoherent giggling as they slowly passed out, and passed into the hereafter.

Sheriff's deputies said the two were not victims of foul play. They climbed into the balloon of their own volition, and no drugs or alcohol were involved. Both were Users in more ways than one I guess you could say, =)

I do NOT expect to survive this night, but now that I know the identity of a second hacker and suspect that Tal is the third, it's pretty much impossible for the USERS to lose now (unless you play things REALLY wrongly).

Voting out a known hacker and reducing the number immediately is wiser than peeping around for the remaining anonymous hacker.

A terrible diet and room with no ventilation are being blamed for the death of Shadowshade killed by his own gas. There were no marks found on his body, but an autopsy revealed the presence of large amounts of methane dissolved in his blood.

Shadowshade's diet had consisted primarily of beans and cabbage, just the right combination of foods to produce a severe gas attack. It appears that the man died in his sleep from breathing the poisonous cloud that was hanging over his bed.

Had Shadowshade's windows been open, the flatulence wouldn't have been fatal, but the man was shut up in a nearly airtight bedroom. He was an obese man with an unlimited capacity for creating the deadly gas. Three rescuers became sick and one was hospitalized.

After getting his identity revealed, Demigod left nothing to chance when he decided to commit suicide. He stood atop a sheer cliff and tied a noose around his neck. He tied the other end of the rope to a large rock. He drank some poison and set fire to his clothes. He even tried to shoot himself at the last moment. He jumped and fired the pistol. The bullet missed him completely and cut through the rope above him. Now freed from the threat of hanging, he plunged into the sea. The dunking extinguished the flames and made him vomit the poison. He was dragged out of the water by a kind fisherman and was taken to a hospital, where he died of hypothermia. He, indeed, was a Hacker

I've actually seen that happen in a game of Mafia where the person that is God (who narrates and dictates etc. etc.) plays the role of the mafia and the doctor and just chooses someone to die every night and watches all of the townspeople just go at each other's throats :P

Tal, actually, I posted my post knowing that it was my last chance to stir up the water. Specifically, my comment saying that it was better to look for the hidden hacker first was SUPPOSED to find the hacker. And it did (even with OB's intervening post)!
