Question about the TOE (in General)

QBRanger April 12 2009 10:55 AM EDT

Since I do physical damage, if I use a TOE will it help lower the GA damage?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 12 2009 10:57 AM EDT

It's claimed that "if the GA is returning physical damage" it will. I've yet to see it proved with numbers that GA returns physical class damage.

QBRanger April 12 2009 11:21 AM EDT

My point.

As I can also see that AC does not reduce the GA physical damage.

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] April 12 2009 11:34 AM EDT

AC is supposed to reduce GA damage as per type of attack returned isn't it? Thought it did, as the old endurance did also.

QBRanger April 12 2009 11:36 AM EDT

In my past experience I have not noted much difference in GA damage whether I have 10 or 200 AC.

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] April 12 2009 11:39 AM EDT

"ToE damage reduction is shown in the post-battle stats"

what does this look like? Does it show indirect damge reduction?

Rawr April 12 2009 12:46 PM EDT

I definitely remember learning that AC reduces GA damage. I think a great person to ask would be Hatchet, with his huge AC tank.

QBRanger April 12 2009 12:47 PM EDT

It is supposed to reduce GA damage. In my experience I have yet to see it do so.

I was wondering if the TOE did reduce it noticeably.

AdminNemesia [Demonic Serenity] April 12 2009 12:58 PM EDT

From what I have seen the ToE does not reduce GA anymore. Also I think it might be just the + AC that reduces GA.

jon says no on the toe but yes on the ac in his third or fourth post in the above thread.

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] April 12 2009 12:59 PM EDT

he also states:

GA damage type is GA, not physical or magic.

in the next post. i guess we need to change the wiki.

AC definitely blocks GA, even GA against your magic damage. Despite what some parts of the site say.

Pretty sure the ToE no longer blocks GA.

TheHatchetman April 12 2009 2:26 PM EDT

AC most certainly helps against GA... never really paid much attention to the difference if there even was one when i was sporting a ToE

three4thsforsaken April 12 2009 4:17 PM EDT

evidence shows that AC does contribute to reducing GA damage, but not the same percentages that AC usually reduces damage.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] April 14 2009 3:50 AM EDT

Dude nailed it. It was either changed by Jon, or always worked like that (and the old information was always wrong).

GA no longer returns Physical or Magical damage based on the attack, but just returns it's own type of damage.

Cube April 14 2009 12:18 PM EDT

AC always had full effect for me.

I had a heavy mage for a while and from ~120k CoC per minion he'd take 5k GA from each.

This was when the ToE also worked on GA, but that only accounts for x4 so it'd be like 20k GA per 120k damage, which is much less than 60%.
