Take a test with any of the "recommended servers" but at least 500 miles away from your location, preferably more.
Then post how much your internet connection COSTS and if you have any caps at all on it :)

I have a 10mbit/1mbit down/up ADSL from my provider.
But I have a crappy router and crappy phone line between them so I rarely hit anything above 7mbit/0.75mbit down/up, costs: ﾀ25 a month, which is a scam.

Needless to say, I am quite happy with it.

University internet with optic fiber? that kinda screws up the results here.

JS u pay $40,000 a year for that. Most expensive Ive seen here :D

But I'm currently at work. I expect my home computer to be a bit faster.

And our internet sucks mad slow. And we have a 4gb download / 2gb upload per week cap.

I'm in the same boat as JS. Costs $0, but with a big tuition fee... No caps on usage though

I'll retest later in the night when there are less people using the bandwidth.

I'm at home now, but we just got a new line at work, and the speedtest results on average ~25meg/sec.

Glad to see the link is entertaining people. I'd post my results, but bittorrent is slowing my down to a crawl.

I do not know how valid these results are, as the download speed seems to be somewhat constant, no matter how far away I am...
Oh, and how much am I paying for this? Nothing :) as it gets sponsored by my employer.

Right around the corner might be a bottle neck with a very slow server (or intermediate connection) as opposed to further away.

Damn thing doesn't have a server close enough to show off my latency... I see pings of around 16ms when playing counter-strike on about fifty different servers. I pay around $20 and have a static ip (that I'm too lazy to take advantage of). Seeing all those 20mb connections has me drooling... maybe I'll up this to 6 for a couple months to see if it's worth it.

I pay $50 AUD for my 4 Mb/S, I have an 18GB limit. Darn internet being cheap in everywhere but Australia.
