NCB Strategy (in General)

Newlin [SeeD] April 19 2009 3:34 PM EDT

I am going to start a NCB in the next few days. I had 2 different ideas that are very similar. Let me know which you think is the best and what I can do to improve it.

---minion 1---
-MAX AS
-RoS
-Cornuthaum
-BoF
-AoL

---minion 2---
-MAX GA
-Base Decay
-Cornuthaum

---minion 3---
-MAX CoC
-AG
-CoI
-AoF

---minion 4---
-1/2 MAX AMF
-1/2 MAX AS
-Cornuthaum

------------------------------------------

---minion 1---

-MAX AS

-BoF
-AoL

---minion 2---

-1/3 MAX AMF
-MAX GA
-Base Decay

Both strats are weak versus RoBF teams.

Newlin [SeeD] April 19 2009 3:37 PM EDT

Would it be better to use MM then?

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] April 19 2009 3:41 PM EDT

nah, typically those strategies are really strong versus everything else haha =). (Notice the abundance of these strategies, it must be doing something right).

Newlin [SeeD] April 19 2009 3:43 PM EDT

Which one would be better overall then?

Kefeck [Demonic Serenity] April 19 2009 3:47 PM EDT

I'd go with the second one, its cheaper and more concentration (remember you can always hire later if needed). Also, on your decay minion equip a set of noldorin spellcasters, so your decay will hit for something all the time. =).

The AoF on your CoC minion will increase HP it gains from AS, but it will also increase AMF effectiveness against you. Hopefully that won't be much of an issue, though.

I would definitely recommend some NSCs for your base Decay guy.

I think you may have trouble dealing with MSk teams. They'll auto-target your mage. Of course, you will have a ridiculous amount of HP...

I almost want to suggest changing minion order a bit and putting PL on something, but I feel that that would be moving your team out of focus. Try it out, and good luck.
Definitely go the 3-minion option to start out.

Newlin [SeeD] April 19 2009 3:52 PM EDT

Ok, thanks for the help guys.

Newlin [SeeD] April 19 2009 4:02 PM EDT

Also, one more thing, would it be viable to add a HoC to the CoC minion? And would having an AoF on the other two minions help or hurt me?

It's not weak against RoBF teams unless they train tons of AMF. You'll have enough HP to last tons of rounds against RoBF damage.

Colonel Custard [The Knighthood] April 19 2009 4:10 PM EDT

HoC would be good.
Putting an AoF on the other minions couldn't hurt. If you did, you could also train a small PL on the middle minion, getting a nice boost from AoF, to just siphon off a little bit of damage every turn.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] April 19 2009 4:18 PM EDT

I would add some DBs to the Mages to help with High Damage Teams/MSKer Users. Lowering the chance to be hit could be the difference between winning and losing :)

Newlin [SeeD] April 20 2009 4:22 PM EDT

Would putting a little evasion on the mage help too?

Newlin [SeeD] April 20 2009 5:36 PM EDT

yes?....no?

three4thsforsaken April 20 2009 6:19 PM EDT

No. Say no to dilution!
