NightStrike or Jonathan seems to have added Debates forum part.
When trying to put active this in my supporter preferences I got this alas:
Server Error
The requested URL cannot be accessed due to a system error on this server.

in other words: we can't put it in our recent forum topics list yet.

I was able to add it to my supporter preferences last night without a problem...but I think at the time someone else also got a server error when trying to do so.
I just added it without a problem, you sure its not on your end?

Any chance you could add a word/character limit to that forum? Some people have a habit of making posts that are way too long.

I was able to add it. Is this limited to on-topic debates or can it have OT debates as well? (ie. religion (ban religion from debates XD) )

Oh, also I too added it to my supporter preferences without a problem. I can't test to see if this worked though because the only post would have been pushed off the recent posts page.

I had thought about that, but
1) I don't really want to limit people; maybe just "try to be concise?"
2) I don't want to mod for word count on posts. >.>

Cube - the forum should be unlocked for everyone to make threads now, so if you can come up with a good discussion topic (read: steal one of our current ones from this forum) then you'll be able to tell :P
is the debate forum for religious and political type discussions as some of us had desired or is this to debate game issues?

Yep, Recent forums is working.
As for the word count, I guess I was hoping for something automatic. A character limit/line limit is probably the easiest. I know we can tell someone to be concise, but sometimes people don't realize it. It starts getting ridiculous especially when people start copy pasting into the forum.

All of the above, dudemus!

Oh, and if someone could add it to the sidebar's drop down list when you highlight Forums, that'd be swell.
Ah, well, this certainly is an interesting addition. But don't we have an Off-topic area for these very things? I'd rather have a diary section than a debate section. And this coming from the guy who debates with everyone every thirty seconds.
The reason for the specific forum section is that rules can be created and enforced without hearing the "it's OT, why can't I do what I want" every ten seconds.
It also seems to mean that OB has some power over posts...
Yeah, it would seem that way, Nov.
i will have to see how it turns out. my idea had been for a so-called pointless debate forum that would enable those not wanting to see the oft repeated politicial and religious debates to just hide that forum entirely.
since what we have incorporates game issues as well, it makes it harder for me to decide whether or not to hide it. i will have to think on this one!
Wow, this should spawn some very interesting threads to read.
by pointless i was not being derogatory, i am at a different place in life than most on here and have heard the debates for around thirty years now. if nothing has changed my mind yet, then i doubt it will especially since i haven't heard many new arguments in a couple of decades.
with that in mind, the debate is just pointless to me at this time in my life.

I get the new forum, but when I move my mouse over Forums on the left frame, Debate fails to show up.
Yep ranger's correct even with a refresh.
It doesn't appear because I never added it to the pop out. I'm still undecided as to whether or not I will at this point in time. I'm going to wait and see how the forum itself plays out before messing with the sidebar.
Looks like you added it now...?
