BA Advancements? (in General)

TheCakeIsTheTruth May 17 2009 6:42 PM EDT

Could we get BA advancements? Like instead of waiting 2 hours to get some "BA", you could get an advancement. Now you'd only get like 90% or your BA or something. So say you choose to get 100 BA advanced (next couple hours worth), you'd get 90 BA and no BA refreshments untill your refresh rate catches up to the advances. This is only an idea, so don't shot it down.

Knowing nothing about coding and whatnot this sounds like it might be VERY difficult to do but...

WOW What an idea!
Instead of having some type of vacation mode (that people have been pushing for) and instead of having to lose ALL the ba for a day/few days (whatever the amount of time) if you're unable to get away from real life once in a while you can still advance your character but at a decreased rate when you do have the time (before hand, I don't think I like the idea of being able to get ba you already missed. This would at least show some amount of care and planning).

Gold star idea!!!

j'bob May 17 2009 6:49 PM EDT

ps, I'd say considerably lower than 90% but still.

I have to say also, in this day and age there could very well be people who would play a game like this if there was not the "absolute" of the daily constraint. OH but wait... we're not concerned with fresh blood are we. (jamming tongue in cheek)

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] May 17 2009 6:49 PM EDT

certainly would be ideal for those NUBs wishing to make more money in wacky times for selling :P

What rubberduck says:
"certainly would be ideal for those NUBs wishing to make more money in wacky times for selling :P"

What rubberduck means, being the constructive and pro discussion individual that he is:
"Well my friends, it's not a horrible idea but I for one would have to insist that some sort of exemption be put into place regarding the "wacky" times, both xp and cash."

;p

I think the BA regen rates are a key part of CB, and I also think the issue of wanting more BA was resolved with the ability to purchase it. Being able to get future BA now so that you don't have to log back in seems to go against the notion of luring players back. Yes, it would help many of us who sleep or work through some of our BA, but I think that's the point -- you're aware of when you're not playing.

Cube May 17 2009 7:00 PM EDT

It would be simpler to just increase the amount of BA you can store past 160 - however, I don't think it's necessary.

Rubberduck[T] [Hell Blenders] May 17 2009 7:03 PM EDT

Can you tell I'm trying to win some of them "make CB better, posting prizes" :P

QBRanger May 17 2009 7:06 PM EDT

No,

Just no.

j'bob May 17 2009 7:09 PM EDT

I can truly see this from both sides of the coin but I'll tell you this. The only reason I'm able to come back to CB is because I no longer have much of an interest of where my character stands. He's just fun to throw into battles.
For anyone who is really trying to advance their character the frustration of say, running a NCB for a good strong 4 months, only to have your hours changed or something and suddenly not be able to use nearly the amount of ba that you had planned is likely maddening. It would be nice to somehow be able to stay competitive with out having to be chained to your computer.

Maybe NUBs should be able to sell their cb dollars for xp.
That sounds like a GREAT idea. I'll take my bettering cb award through forums now thank you very much.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] May 17 2009 7:29 PM EDT

The -only- way this would be unabuseable would be to:

A: Prevent N*Bs from using it. N*Bs would be able to buy 8 months worth of BA at one time, giving them 8 months worth of 10/20 BA to blow in one go.

B: Prevent BA purchased in this manner from being used during XP/Money Times.

j'bob May 17 2009 7:34 PM EDT

yes, b was already mentioned and a, well I even just took a for granted.

{WW]Nayab [Cult of the Valaraukar] May 17 2009 7:35 PM EDT

you would limit it to only give the next X hours of BA to you otherwise it would become very overpowered fast. probably make X a maximum of 10 hours.

TheCakeIsTheTruth May 17 2009 7:42 PM EDT

Ya there'd either have to be a max in how much BA you get or how many hours worth of BA.

QBRanger May 17 2009 8:01 PM EDT

Again,

I see no reason to do this.

CB is a game where logging on every x hours is part of the growth.

We do this and why not just give everyone a 5M MPR character when they join with 100M CB to develop it.

QBRanger May 17 2009 8:03 PM EDT

Or as someone else said.

I will buy x days of BA now to use in money time just to sell for USD.

Or:

I will buy all my BA to use in xp time. At 60% more xp, I will take a 10 or 20% total numerical loss.

This is too abusive to even consider.

Lord Bob May 17 2009 8:06 PM EDT

"We do this and why not just give everyone a 5M MPR character when they join with 100M CB to develop it."

We already do this. It's called the NUB.

I agree this is an awful proposal, however.

{WW]Nayab [Cult of the Valaraukar] May 17 2009 8:12 PM EDT

many a notion has been turned down but i do agree with Ranger after some deliberation. We could never make this work without it becoming abused anyway.

BootyGod May 17 2009 8:40 PM EDT

I like the idea.

The argument that people would abuse it makes no sense.... It's not abuse if everyone in the game is doing it.... By the logic that this idea would be abused, using money/xp time itself is a form of abuse.

It's a good idea, IMO. It allows people to account for differing schedules (as in, you can typically manage to log on every 8 hours. But for some reason you have to work a 12 hour shift, or stay at school for 3 more hours. You could plan it out and advance BA accordingly)

I've never understood people's complaint about ideas like this. You reward people for their loyalty. Not their dang proximity to a computer at set intervals throughout the day. Some say that because they happen to be able to log on every 10 hours, they should be the highest in the game. But I counter with why? It's not more time spent. I don't believe that WHEN you burn your BA should decide your place in the game. Your strategies, how you play and plan your characters are what should matter.

I could go on and on and on. But I won't. This is a good idea (in essence. The specifics could, of course, do with some work)

TheCakeIsTheTruth May 17 2009 8:45 PM EDT

You could also limit it to only doing it maybe 2-3 times a week.

Burton May 17 2009 8:54 PM EDT

That's not how CB is meant to be played.

j'bob May 17 2009 8:58 PM EDT

"We could never make this work without it becoming abused anyway."

So since we can't stop all the multis that abuse this game Jon should go ahead and pull the plug. Listen, I'm not saying it's a perfect idea but I believe it has some merit in it somewhere.

and with the arguments above one can still make a lot of money with a nub, come out with a FAIR character... and BUY A NICE BIG ONE.
So characters should then be locked to users and non transferable.

See, the status quo works for people that are well established. The masses always seem to fear change.

BootyGod May 17 2009 9:13 PM EDT

Hey. I'm a masses, and I like change! :O

Wizard'sFirstRule May 18 2009 1:04 AM EDT

I quiet like this. except you shouldn't get any money award for this.

a) No N*B Bonus on pre-purcahsed XP
b) No cash award at all [0. zitch]
c) BA obtained at reduced rate. 90% for up to 1 week, then 80% for the next 3 (1 month total), then 70% for the next 5 month (1/2 a year) and I see no reason that you need to pre-purchase BA for longer than 6 months.
d) Only able to obtain 50% of BA [so instead of your normal 432 BA a day, you can only reduce it by 216 a day, and getting 194 right now. Result: extra 194 BA now, only 216 BA tomorrow]
e) Have some kind of CB dollar costs to reduce the money supply.

AdminShade May 18 2009 1:22 AM EDT

I find this unbalanced. reason is that you can get the advancement on the BA you wouldn't be able to spend otherwise due to work / sleep / other things.

AdminNightStrike May 20 2009 2:04 AM EDT

This idea will not be implemented any time soon. Making it easier for everyone to fight closer to 100% of possible BA usage is not desirable at this point in time.

QBOddBird May 20 2009 2:09 AM EDT

Whew. Good. You can already get all your BA by logging in every 8 or 9 hours, like 2x-3x a day, at 6 BA regen...how much freakin' easier does it have to be?

Eventually it'll just be "can't we just log in weekly and adjust our strats, then let the fights occur automatically while we're gone?"
