Beautiful pictures. (in Off-topic)

There are some pretty beautiful things in this world...and we've taken pictures of many of them. Post some of your favorites here!

This is a shot of Thurso Castle in Scotland, with a camera capturing the moon rays behind it using a very long exposure time.

Cube May 21 2009 5:44 PM EDT

Wow that's beautiful no kidding

QBOddBird May 21 2009 5:44 PM EDT

of course give credit if you have it...photo taken by Stewart Watt.

AdminShade May 21 2009 5:58 PM EDT

Wow, this is a really nice one indeed.

Long shutter time (I'm thinking ~10-15 seconds at least) on a good stable support.

What's the light coming from the horizon though?

Cube May 21 2009 6:05 PM EDT

"camera capturing the moon rays behind it using a very long exposure time"

Also, wouldn't the shutter time have to be longer than 10-15 seconds? You can see the stars making lines.

Fallingwater

AdminShade May 21 2009 6:20 PM EDT

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 21 2009 7:02 PM EDT

Fex, is that from the House on a Rock?

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 21 2009 7:05 PM EDT

Ahh it is, tis a very beautiful place. The infinity room is very "cool."

AdminQBVerifex May 21 2009 7:05 PM EDT

Click the picture, it's geocoded so you can see where exactly it was taken, I try to do that with most all my pictures. Also in case you are too lazy to look up Fallingwater on the web: Link

Mont Saint Michel, one of the most beautiful place you can ever visit. I was blessed and got to go there this summer, it was amazing.

Demigod May 21 2009 10:58 PM EDT

Dudemus wins so far. I love that pic.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] May 21 2009 11:18 PM EDT

Solar Eclipse.

QBsutekh137 May 21 2009 11:24 PM EDT

Um, that's not House on the Rock. I've been there. That ain't it.

AdminTitan [The Sky Forge] May 21 2009 11:36 PM EDT

Yeah, that's Falling Water, another Frank Lloyd Wright. I've been to House on the Rock too Sut, I just confused the two.

PearsonTritonRaveshaw May 21 2009 11:39 PM EDT

That's my girlfriend, Nikki, and she's the most beautiful person I've ever met.

PearsonTritonRaveshaw May 21 2009 11:41 PM EDT

Oh I also forgot to mention: Kevlar, that picture of London is totally wickedly awesome. And Titan, those two pictures you posted are incredible.

ResistanZ2 [The Knighthood] May 21 2009 11:42 PM EDT

Here's a pic, simple but fun:

Demigod May 21 2009 11:47 PM EDT

If you guys have large versions, please feel free to post links. I have Windows Power Tools alternating wallpapers every 15 minutes. While I normally only use pics I've taken, I wouldn't mind adding some of these to the lineup.

QBsutekh137 May 21 2009 11:56 PM EDT

You can steal my piece o' crap, no problem. Just download from the link...

Demigod May 22 2009 12:17 AM EDT

"You can steal my piece o' crap..."

Hmm. Now that you say it, it does look somewhat like space poo. Pass.

PearsonTritonRaveshaw May 23 2009 7:46 PM EDT

I wish to see more, so... Bump!

Untouchable May 23 2009 8:57 PM EDT

AdminShade May 23 2009 10:00 PM EDT

Far less popups when you click on the photo. And thanks OB!

IndependenZ May 24 2009 7:50 AM EDT

Both pictures are taken by my girlfriend, in Renesse, The Netherlands. Yes, that's me in the top one. Too bad the time stamp is on there, but I like them a lot anyway. We've got some other really nice pictures, but these ones are the best, I think.

Flamey May 24 2009 10:41 AM EDT

Inde, the first one. Explain why it looks like you're standing on water..

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] May 24 2009 10:44 AM EDT

Inde's girlfriend proves he can walk on water!

RedWolf May 24 2009 10:46 PM EDT

This guy's site has a lot of beautiful pictures:
weatherscapes.com

IndependenZ June 3 2009 11:05 AM EDT

Bit late, but erm... it's actually very shallow there Flamey. With the light diminishing you can't actually see into the water, so it all looks equally deep. Plus, the photo was taking at a lower height, lol if you look closely you can see it, but there's a sandbank like twenty meters behind me. Because of the low height it looks like the water I'm standing in is connected to the sea, but it's just leftover tide :P

AdminShade June 3 2009 11:15 AM EDT

Not sure if these will display correctly at all but worth a try:
