Strat idea... (in General)

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 5 2009 7:41 PM EDT

I've got a (possibly uber) crazy strat idea.

1st minion,
Wall set
HP, AP

2nd minion,
MM, SS
ToE, mage gear

3rd minion
HP, PL
TSA, MgS, AoF, etc.

Will it work? Am I insane? Does Bast hate Sirius? What does J'Bob have against Eskimos? Stay tuned to find out!

I have two things that own that strat, 1. SG 2. AMF/GA

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 5 2009 7:48 PM EDT

SG would probably hurt. But, not many teams are using it currently. GA might be a deal-breaker, though...

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 5 2009 7:57 PM EDT

As to AMF; maybe Nov is interested in selling his NSC... ;)

{WW]Nayab [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 5 2009 7:58 PM EDT

hehe, you would do really well against single minion tanks and mages, you would just have to be careful of 4 minion GA teams.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 5 2009 8:05 PM EDT

I would pwn it with sheer ToA Power :P

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 6 2009 1:28 PM EDT

Alright, how about a four minion team, with a DM enchanter, wearing the ToE, and adding a BoE and CoI to the MM mage?

I like your original idea better. I would actually recommend going two minion though because PL doesn't protect you from AMF or GA. And no, sheer ToA power is not going to beat through that wall 9 out of 10 times.

You're facing at least 80% damage reduction for each hit.

How about this while we're thinking.

Pure anti tank:
1st minion
50% Dex
50% evasion

wall equips (maybe an MC?)

2nd minion
50% HP
50% SG
small SS
small AMF
500k PL

mage equips/ToE, exbow

Any tank is going to have to hit your wall (it'll at least take off 1-2 hits) then face 80-90% damage reduction, all while trying to dodge an exbow.

Killing tanks have never been so easy!

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 6 2009 1:52 PM EDT

I probably wouldn't be able to afford an ExBow. ;)

Lost and I were talking in chat, and here's the strat we (read: he) came up with:

1st minion
Wall set, MH +100 or so, SoC
AP, HP, small STR/DEX

2nd minion
Mage gear
MM, HP, SS, 100k AMF

I like it quite a bit better.

three4thsforsaken June 6 2009 2:52 PM EDT

Or of course you could put the SoC on my strat.

You'll loose 2-3% reduction but you'll get the bashing capabilities. ToE/AC is post adsorb so you should be dealing the same damage. Plus SoC still adsorbs before PL is applied. You're going to need a little bit of HP to deal with GA, but your AC should really help.

Overall it has more damage reduction and less of an SoC reliance.

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 6 2009 3:00 PM EDT

Yes, perhaps, but it's too expensive for me. ;)

three4thsforsaken June 6 2009 3:06 PM EDT

It's worth pointing out that you can NOT rely on the SoC more times than not.

Here's why.

1.) you don't know where your SoC is going to unleash its damage. You might hit a wall, a damage dealer or an enchanter. If you do hit an enchanter, it's a big big waste. SoC has limitations in its attack order, chances are if you took any damage in ranged, you'll probably hit a tank first.

2.) Even if you do have your SoC lined up to hit a damage dealer (which is probably going to be a tank) you still don't know if you're going to hit. Everyone is terrified of Exbows, so DBs are common.

3.) Your wall my kill itself from GA.

I've considered the SoC route before but I've only bothered using it for clearing kill slots to maximize my SG effectiveness. You can actually use it's inability to hit defended minion to your advantage and keep it's CTH to a minimum only to hit enchanters.

But if you must deal damage with SoC, consider this:

1st minion
50% HP
50% SG
small AMF
500k PL
mage equips/ToE/AoI

2nd minion
33% dex
33% evasion
33% HP
base BL
wall equips with MC and SoC.

Switching the order gives you a little help against SG since you don't have AP and MM protection. People hit your SoC and you should be able to remove one hit, reduce immensely then hit back with 50% of their POTENTIAL max damage. Note that PL reduces damage by another 10% and that the dex will help your weapon hit.

three4thsforsaken June 6 2009 3:10 PM EDT

also note that BL does increase damage by 150%

Marlfox [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 6 2009 4:57 PM EDT

I don't really want an evasion/traditional wall. The SoC, remember, also reduces phys. damage.
I am also going to be training AP on the wall.
Why do you choose SG over MM? Just out of curiosity.

{WW]Nayab [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 6 2009 5:09 PM EDT

SG is significantly better against anyone with moderate armor, I would choose the MM though because you DON'T want to wait till melee rounds before you can do anything.
