would the -5 armor from HoC reduce shocking grasp damage by 5%?
thats actually a really good question. I don't think it would but i think someone will need to test it to tell you.

No, it's a straight 2% reduction to DD level. Although the extra hit you get makes up for the reduction pretty well.

Aha, sorry need some coffee. Negative values are equivalent to base in this case I believe, if the HoC is all they are wearing. So they're acting as if they've zero AC.
Of course without coffee I may be wrong...;)

If your total armor is less than 0, it is treated as 0.
Otherwise it is treated as your total armor.
To be more accurate, a *net* AC of <0 is treated as 0. The HOC isn't zeroed before the summation.

To answer the question in the original post: no it will not reduce the damage by 5%.
