Clan name change option? (in General)

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 19 2009 4:35 PM EDT

Good idea or no?

I was looking to see if I could change my clan name and noticed i could not.
I know this does not come up often but if there was a options (like Changing character names)it would be used often.

Perhaps a once every 30days change limit would also be smart.

{CB1}Zenai_U'Lanya is mostly responsible for this idea.

Why not just create a new clan with a new name and give ownership to someone else?

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 19 2009 4:40 PM EDT

<Admiralkiller> can i change my clan name once its changed?
<DrAcO5676> AK no
<{CB1}Zenai_U'Lanya> I have never tried so I couldnt answer you
<{CB1}Zenai_U'Lanya> but that would be a cool option to be honest....like renaming your Char.

That is how it happened....lol

So far I dunno how it would be coded. Sometimes things are easy to code other things are quite hard. I'm sure that there would be people that would try to abuse it but eh it's Just a thought.

"Why not just create a new clan with a new name and give ownership to someone else?"

You could be over the VPR limit and not all members could fit in the new clan.

As we can change our user name, character name and minion names, I see no reason why we should be prevented from changing our clan name.

Cost over 100k to make a new clan novice

QBOddBird June 19 2009 4:52 PM EDT

cost 50k, technically.

Retire
Make Clan
Have Admin Unretire for 50k fee

Remember, the cost to make or join a clan is based off your highest character's VPR!

Admindudemus [jabberwocky] June 20 2009 12:29 AM EDT

when we combined two clans into one, we did just that. the big downside for me was losing all of my and i assume everyone else's clan stats. it then takes about 12 months before you will start seeing valid averages on the yearly stats.

with that being said, i think renaming a clan would be the best solution and it is not as easy as just making a new one with the right name. heck, i would gladly pay the new clan fee for the name change or even more to keep my stats.

Zenai [Cult of the Valaraukar] June 20 2009 1:10 AM EDT

Well put dudemus, and a part of the reason I said what I did. Sometimes those stats for a Clanner are hard to lose for the sake of joining/making another clan.

I would however jump the costs up just for the sake of evening things out, you want to change your Clan Name AND keep your stats ok fine your Rate is X amount times 2. From what I understand, the Code for the Clans is very hard to play with, so if we wanted this feature then it is only fair that we paid for such a feature.

Been in my clan since 2006, I'd rather not leave and lose that for a name. It would just be like changing names of characters, I don't see how it could be hard to do. It's something NS could easily do I imagine and nothing groundbreaking :)

BHT June 20 2009 3:09 PM EDT

I agree, This 'should' be an easy and beneficial change. I can't think of any flaw or downside, So why not?

Burton June 20 2009 4:04 PM EDT

Yeah, would be good to have.

AdminNightStrike June 20 2009 5:59 PM EDT

I definitely understand the desire for this feature, if only for keeping the history of the clan stats. This should be easy to do, too, assuming that nothing is keyed off of clan name. Hopefully, everything is keyed off of clan id.

Flamey June 20 2009 8:52 PM EDT

You'd be trusting join to have used the ID, unless he was asleep when he was coding clans. Will you get back to us NS with a "yes" or "no"?
