Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] July 14 2009 4:47 PM EDT

Welcome to Ak's Ultimate Strategist Contest.

It is simple. I want to update the Wiki with some improved strategies.
The top ten (as rated by 5 judges) will win a prize.

Strategies will be judged for several factors.

You may enter once for free. 2nd time will cost 50k. 3rd 100k. 4th 200k.. etc. etc.(to help pay for my cost to run contest).

This is not a discussion post so please only strategies only.

Prizes will be.
1st.=500k
2nd.=250k
3rd.=150k
4th-10th.=50k

The Judges/and Wiki users need to be able to understand your strategy clearly so please don't over complicate it.

Judges may join but may not vote on their own strategy.

Judges are Novice, Ranger, Sutekh, Lostling, Draco5676. I know many other people are qualified but these seem to be the names that get mentioned most often.

Questions or concerns to my CM please.
:-)

I am sorry I have to withdraw as a judge.

There are others more than qualified to take my place.

three4thsforsaken July 14 2009 5:01 PM EDT

What kind of strategy are you looking for? A mid or late game strategy? Specializing in growth or maintaining high score? Is this N*B driven? How much money do we get?

three4thsforsaken July 14 2009 5:04 PM EDT

Oh and do we have to mention a growth plan? That way we can have a versatile amount of exp distribution.

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] July 14 2009 5:23 PM EDT

3/4 this Is for people who use Wiki for strategy advise. So NuB and NCB mostly but all types will be looked at. So money is not unlimited and needs to be reasonable. A player under a year would check on wiki for strat advise more then a player of five years so try to keep the resources available to your strategy limited.

Basically I am trying to make a comprehensive wiki page with 10 easy to use strategies that succeed over a decent period of time.

CM me if you have more questions

Admiralkiller [Cult of the Valaraukar] July 14 2009 6:17 PM EDT

Okay Rangers replacement is GentlemanLoser..I am giving this contest a window of two weeks to 1 month final day depending on popularity.

:-)Thank you to the Judges for your help it will be for the better of CB:-)

2Minion team----

Minion 1: Enchanter
Spells: Dispel Magic and AS *OR* GA
Gear:
AoJ
Halidon
EB
BG
HoC
BoM

Minion 2: Mage
Spells: Magic Missle
Gear: (not all is needed)
AoF
BoE
CoI
SB
NSC
HoC
---------
This strat works from basically the start. You don't need all the gear to make it dominate, but it sure does help.
The strat has both magic and physical damage (MM and Hal), making it fairly hard to counter.
Another good point is it's quick kiil, which works very well in the lower ranks, you could even train FB on the mage until around 200k mpr if needed.

BHT July 14 2009 10:10 PM EDT

Edit: My minion 1 should also have Armor Prof. as a trained skill.

In my opinion, my strategy is one of the best for NUB users out there. I got help with the strat when I first started. I was looking for something effective, specialized, and cheap. Thus, Konoha's Finest was created = EEME.

Minion 1: Enchanter
ユ Full AS.
Required items: Cornuthaum, Amulet of Focus

Minion 2: Enchanter
ユ Small AMF (100k) to block enemy Decay.
ユ Rest AS.
Equipped with RoS
Required items: Cornuthaum, Amulet of Focus

Minion 3: Mage
ユ 1/4 xp goes into HP.
ユ Rest into SG.
Required items: Amulet of Invisibility, Helm of Clearsight

Minion 4: Enchanter
ユ Half xp into DM.
ユ Rest xp into GA.
Required items: Cornuthaum, Amulet of Focus

Description:
This team is a huge HP focused team designed originally to beat SFBM. As a four minion team, I was aware of the problems of xp dilution against Dispel Magic. Thus, the obvious choice was the Rune of Solitude. With the RoS I have essentially 3 minions focused on Ablative Shield, the backbone of many multi-minion teams. The Mage is clearly not going to be very strong; however, this is not a problem. After the Enchanters GA damage defeats the enemy damage dealers, the Mage goes to work. The Mage's job is cleanup. In my opinion, SG is very effective at cleaning up for its large single target damage. Magic Missile is an option as well. AMF/GA is not a huge problem for the cleaning up because of the immense amount of HP the Mage has along with DM to break down GA. The GA may be relatively small compared the amount of HP I have, but this is not a problem. With Cornuthaums and Amulet of Foci, GA is magnified (along with AS) to the point that breaking the damage cap is nearly impossible.

In short: because of the huge amount of AS to fuel the GA, enemy damage dealers will kill themselves while the mage mops up the rest of the enemy team.

Why this team is so great for NUBs:
Starting off as 4-minions means there is no worry of the ridiculous minion costs at the higher MPRs. The required items are expensive, yet few, so an NUB can easily gather the essential items within the first couple of months. It is a defensive-specialized team, meaning more stalemates. This is good for growth because, assuming the NUB is in a clan, his/her clan score will be higher, further boosting growth.

Team Weaknesses:
1. RoBF users. RoBF deals unretaliable damage. Since your mage is not very strong the chance of killing the RoBF wielding minion is slim. Thus, despite your huge amounts of HP, your best shot is a stalemate.
2. Massive DM users. Even though the RoS does its job well, it can still be overwhelmed by massive amounts of Dispel Magic. These teams are few and usually at the very high levels of play, so an NUB shouldn't need to worry about this weakness.
3. Lifesteal users: VA and MH/BoTh are considerable against GA. But with the use of DM and the fact that leech weapons are weaker than they appear, this weakness is not a great force to be reckoned with and is only worrisome against massive NW users.

I think I covered it all, I hope you agree judges :). Any questions are welcome.

I have one more point about GA.

There has been talk about GA needing a nerf. If this nerf ensues, then the 4th minion can easily switch to majority/all into GA. The DM is a nice buff but not a necessity for what the team needs.
